Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood (Nina Simone cover) Lyrics
Sometimes I feel a little mad
Well don't you know that no-one alive
Can always be an angel
When things go wrong I seem to be bad
I'm just a soul who's intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood
With a joy that's hard to hide
And sometimes it seems that
All I have to do is worry
And then you're bound to see my other side
That I never mean to take it out on you
Life has it's problems and I get my share
And that's one thing I never mean to do
'cause I love you
Have thoughts like any other one
Sometimes I find myself alone and regretting
Some foolish thing, some little simple thing I've done
Oh Lord. please don't let be me be misunderstood
(repeat 2x)
I think this song is a guy trying to tell his girlfriend that he isn't perfect and that he screws up sometimes, but he still loves her.
i love this band! and i love this song more! my boyfriend played it for me, as an apology even though i understood before, it was cute that he played it great song!
OH LORD, PLEASE DON'T LET ME BE MISUNDERSTOOD! Brilliant.
This is a much darker song. It is about a man who commits domestic violence.
I've always felt like this song was about a person who is very candid and open about the way they talk... but the things they're saying get misinterpreted and they ends up offending others, despite having good intentions about the things they're saying.
Its a song about domestic abuse, particilarly the part where the abuser is begging for their victim to comeback. As someone whose friend have been through that particular hell ride you learn to pick up on the language they use.
Then you read up on the history of the woman who wrote this and see that she had a long history of violently abusing her daughter and being in a series of abusive relationships it clcompletely makes sense.
The saying they get jealous and angry, it's not their fault, they love that person, they regret it, no one can be an angel etc etc.
If anyone's seen "American Me", they'll totally be blown away. Dont wanna give anything away, but watch when some dude's getting a tat in the prison yard when this song comes in the background. WOW!
Eric Burden may be the best vocalist of all the British Invasion groups.
Great band, great song.
Word for word, this is every man's song.
Ladies, please understand... :)
This version is a classic.
As I've gotten a little older, it has taken on an undertone of an abusive man trying to explain himself to the woman he is abusing to me. I don't know if that was intentional or if I'm just reading to much into it, but if you've been around abusive people these are the kinds of excuses they tend to give. Is it just me?
That's normal, it's called cognitive bias. As you've gotten older you've had more experiences and seen more things and that colours the way you see new things. It's why, to bible thumpers, every song on here is about god in some twisted way.

@Quelargo Nah he's right it's a song about abuse from the perspective of the abuser.

Having had friends who have been through it you learn to recognise the signs and words they use.
