The Incumbent Lyrics

New York, New York, I won't go back--indelible reminder of the steel I lack. I gave you seven years, what did you give me back? A jaw-grind, disposition to a panic attack.

On this side, the incumbent. And who quoth: There's only one everything. Red sucker mouth.

What a bizzare song, but it's one of my favorites. I'm not even going to try and guess what's about, though.

I'm guessing it's about the political hooplah of New York.

well I somewhat agree I think he's looking back on the time he's spent in NYC and what it's done to his life. I'm not certian but this may have been where he got on the horse for the first time, so it's possible that's what gave him the "jaw-grind, disposition to a panic attack." and the other portion of the song sounds like the into to a debate, who the incubent is debating is well... debatable though considering his terms in office I believe he could be referancing Mr. Guiliani

I always thought it was "a joint groin disposition to a panic attack". Either way, this rates as one of my favorite SC songs!

He lived in New York for years. The atmosphere of the city filled him with anxiety, and he's had enough.

The glamorized dream of moving out to New York to make it big is a sucker's game.
