Is Chicago, Is Not Chicago Lyrics
A man
drives a plane
into the
Chrysler building
Saskatoon is in the room
Poulsbo is in the room
Bennetsville is in the room
Palmyra is in the room
Is Chicago!
Is not Chicago!
Is Chicago!
Is not Chicago!
A man
cuts in half
just like he
snaps a pencil
Khartoum is in the room
Phnom Penh is in the room
Pyongyang is in the room
Cairo is in the room
Is Chicago!
Is not Chicago!
Is Chicago!
Is not Chicago
drives a plane
into the
Chrysler building
Poulsbo is in the room
Bennetsville is in the room
Palmyra is in the room
Is not Chicago!
Is Chicago!
Is not Chicago!
cuts in half
just like he
snaps a pencil
Phnom Penh is in the room
Pyongyang is in the room
Cairo is in the room
Is not Chicago!
Is Chicago!
Is not Chicago

This song is extremely visual, a slow motion walk of a plane as it crashes though an office. All these people from other places that work there are diving out of the way, their lives flashing before their eyes. (Chicago - not Chicago) You can hear the twisting metal...
The plane must have been headed for Chicago.
The plane must have been headed for Chicago.
I always thought the same thing about the song. I read an interview where he kept talking about his goofy tripping "is Chicago, is not Chicago" logic.... Put to this scenario, it's darkly hilarious.

even doughty HIMSELF has gone on record stating that he was trippin' when he came up with the idea for that tune.
He was hopped up on Goofballs in Chicago and was pointing at various things sayin, "Is Chicago!" and would then point to himself and say "Is not Chicago!"
It amused him for hours on end and he ended up writing it into a song.
social is right.... also everything he says is "in the room" is a city in the world somewhere.
Um....I don't think Lysergian has it. This song was way before 9/11.

@discordian555 Dude, the lyrics are "a man drives a plane into the Chrysler building" obviously not related to 9/11
