I just can't pretend no more
I keep runnin' out of lies
Lovin' you is killin' me inside

Every time I find the words to end it
something in your eyes won't let it

Shandi, tonight must last us forever
Forever we say goodnight and go home
But you know me very well, and I know you
You can't tell me goodnight (say goodnight)

We been holding on so tight
we're afraid to let it go
Shake it loose, we both could use the ride

Here's another mess I got myself in
and when you touch me you ain't helpin'

Shandi, tonight must last us forever
Forever we say goodnight and go home
But you know me very well, and I know you
You can't tell me goodnight (say goodnight)

Say goodnight when we should say goodbye (say goodbye)

(Shandi, Shandi) Tonight must last us forever and ever
Forever we say goodnight and go home
Shandi, Shandi, tonight must last us forever

my sister named her dog after this song...it's so un-kiss like....so boppy, it's a song i expect from someone like wham....lol....not that there's asnything wrong with wham.... it's about a relationship that's on it's last legs.....they know it's time to end it but they don't want to....

i reckon that they're both having affairs, either with someone else or they ARE the affair....dya get wat i mean? the lines " I just can't pretend no more I keep runnin' out of lies" supports that, cept he wants to end it because its getting worse, but they both still love each other so much.

It's about a relationship Paul had with a girl he loved but for some condition couldn't be with and the girl didn't get the hint and kept loving him hence "When you touch me you ain't helpin" and he can't bring himself to hurt her, and i love this song i don't think KISS ever made a bad record and this was totally underated i mean songs like "Tomorrow" "Two Sides Of the Coin" "Naked City" "Is That You" all Klassiks...

One of my all time very favourite songs. So passionate but yet so tragic. Sounds like they are still in love but "flogging a dead horse" as the relationship is not going to get any better. He is reluctant to end it but knows it's the best thing for both of them. Been a Kiss fan for too many years to count but am always a sucker for their soppy stuff. If you haven't heard their concept album "Music from the Elder" check it out. Great album and very interesting but don't expect too much headbanging music although "I" is more their usual style.
