Rosanna Lyrics

All I wanna do when I wake up in the morning is see your eyes
Rosanna, Rosanna
I never thought that a girl like you could ever care for me
Rosanna

All I wanna do in the middle of the evening is hold you tight
Rosanna, Rosanna
I didn't know you were looking for more than I could ever be

Not quite a year since she went away, Rosanna yeah
Now she's gone and I have to say
Meet you all the way, meet you all the way, Rosanna yeah
Meet you all the way, meet you all the way, Rosanna yeah

I can see your face still shining through the window on the other side
Rosanna, Rosanna
I didn't know that a girl like you could make me feel so sad
Rosanna

All I wanna take is a night you'll never ever have to compromise
Rosanna, Rosanna
I never thought that losing you could ever hurt so bad

Not quite a year since she went away, Rosanna yeah
Now she's gone and I have to say
Meet you all the way, meet you all the way, Rosanna yeah
Meet you all the way, meet you all the way, Rosanna yeah

Not quite a year since she went away, Rosanna yeah
Now she's gone and I have to say
Meet you all the way, meet you all the way, Rosanna yeah
Meet you all the way, meet you all the way, Rosanna yeah

Meet you all the way
Meet you all the way, Rosanna yeah
Meet you all the way
Meet you all the way, Rosanna yeah

The song was written by David Paich, who has said that the song is about several girls he had known. As a joke, the band members initially played along with the common assumption that the song was about Rosanna Arquette, who was dating Toto keyboard player Steve Porcaro at the time and coincidentally had the same name

This song is NOT about Rosanna Arquette. Have you guys ever listened to a Toto interview? Steve Porcaro was dating Rosanna Arquette, but David Paich wrote the song. He just borrowed her name because he said he liked it and it fit.

@gardensyroses Yep. David thought her name was cute and fit the song. That's it.

It's about Rosanna Arquette. And that's it.

@DanVitaleRocks Actually, no. While Steve Porcaro dated Rosanna, the songwriter, David Paich, needed a female name for a song, and thought Rosanna was a cute name. Rosanna and Steve were at David's home during the writing process.

But, Rosanna thought it was about her. But Toto only borrowed her first name!

Rosanna went on to marry James Newton Howard, who worked with Toto regularly assisting with production. Their marriage only lasted about a year.

Rosanna Arquette was dating Steve Porcaro, backup keyboards and song composer. David Paich, lead keyboards, wrote this song about them.

Another song, In Your Eyes, by Peter Gabriel was written about her as well. Damn, is she a heartbreaker or what?

You say heartbreaker, I say Muse.

@captivated On the fourth or fifth marriage by now...I think she was still married or newly divorced when she met Steve Porcaro.

She dated Peter Gabriel right before his album "So" came out (1987?). Rosanna said they split up when Peter saw nude photos were published of her in Playboy, all over the magazine stands. Supposedly, it was printed without her permission. The story is weird. She let a photographer take pictures of her and she trusted they wouldn't be published??!!!

^ yup. Anyone know why its used so much in Scrubs? well I can only remember twice, but they were random bit that could have used any song, but chose to use Rosanna. My guess is Bill Lawrence must really like ot or something.

I really dig that show burntfire. Too funny.

If I recall correctly, the keyboard player dated Rosanna Arquette for a while and dumped him for some Hollywood big-shot. Strangely enough though, one of the other guys wrote the song, not the keyboard player. Good song, though. I always enjoy hearing the little musical intricasies that accompany the song, but not pervade it.

@jules4099 Written by David Paich.

Rosanna wed James Newton Howard not long afterward. He was a friend of the band and helped Toto with production. The marriage lasted only a year.
