California's been good to me.
Hope it don't fall into the sea.
Sometimes you got to trust yourself.
It ain't like anywhere else.
It ain't like anywhere else.

It's time to roll,
I'm all done.
It's time we better hit the road
I got work later on,
It's time we better hit the road.

And California's been good to me.
I hope they don't fall into the sea.
Sometimes you got to save yourself.
It ain't like anywhere else.
No, it ain't like anywhere else.

Sundown, red skies,
Nobody's been around.
Sundown, blue eyes,
I kind of like this part of town.

And California has treated me good.
(California's been good to me)
I pray to God that the hills don't flood.
(Hope it don't fall into the sea)
Sometimes you got to trust yourself.
(Sometimes you got to trust yourself)
It ain't like anywhere else.
(Sometimes you got to save yourself)
It ain't like anywhere else.
(Said it ain't like anywhere else)
Ain't like anywhere else.

what a quality song, its about california being unique and special to tom because he lived there for some time. Im not sure what else its about. "Sundown, red skies, Nobody's been around." reminds me of living there for summer and spending time with this girl...good stuff

I always took it as both an homage to California and a goodbye. "I'm all done" seemed to say to me that he's a little fed up with California and it's time to hit road and go somewhere else. "It ain't like anywhere else" could be taken both ways, as both a positive and a negative. Which is pretty much the way I feel about California: the natural diversity with deserts, beaches, forests, etc is like nowhere else, and it has much to offer. But bad national trends always seem to start in California, the traffic is insane, the smog is bad, the illegal alien population is in crisis proportions, the housing costs are insane, the concrete jungle is everywhere (at least in SoCal), gangs and graffiti are infesting too many towns, and I'm fed up with all of that and am ready to hit the road and go somewhere else.
