Legalize it
Don't criticize it
Legalize it, yeah yeah
And I will advertise it

Some call it tamjee (tamjee)
Some call it the weed (tamjee)
Some call it marijuana (marijuana), ayy-yeah
Some a dem call it ganja (ganja)

Never mind, got to legalize it
And don't criticize it
Legalize it, yeah, yeah
And I will advertise it

Singers smoke it
And players of instrument too
Legalize it, yeah, yeah
That's the best thing you can do

Doctors smoke it
Nurses smoke it
Judges smoke it
Even lawyer too

So you've got to legalize it
And, uh, don't criticize it
Legalize it, yeah, yeah
And I will advertise it

It's good for the flu
Good for asthma
Good for tuberculosis
Even umara composis

Go to legalize it
Don't criticize it
Legalize it, yeah, yeah
I will advertise it

Birds eat it
Ants love it
Fowls eat it
Goats love to play with it

So you've got to legalize it
And don't criticize it
Legalize it, yeah, yeah
And I will advertise it

Keep on telling you legalize it

i think that Peter Tosh is underestimated and he has alot of talent in both singing and song writing. i also think that ganga should be legalized, there is nothing wrong with it. "DOCTORS SMOKE IT, NURSES SMOKE IT JUDGES SMOKE IT, EVEN LAWYER, TOO, SO YOU'VE GOT TO..."

i agree, I just discovered it, today, that was playing in a store, and i was thinking wow that sounds good, the guy told me that tosh was more popular than bob in jamaica, as they were both alive..anyway i havent hheard this song but i agree, because anyway you cant keep people from doing it, and this way the worse you do is make em feel guilty about it, like if it was something -wrong- ... thou i dont think we should prescribe it, if ya want to do it, do it, and someday i know you will get tired of it... its like a medecine... it is to be taken for a period of time... untill you feel better! :) -i'd like to see more lyrics of that guy too..!

dreamer, do you know that from a first-hand experience or what? is that a fact? i don't think so. yeah, it is mostly smoking, but many people eat cannibis sativa.

i agree with tosh's message, but some of the lyrics are exaggerated, like the doctors and lawyers smoking it. some might, but most of them are braindead drones just following the laws.

The whole legalize thing.... If everybody would smoke instead of drinking beer... When the footbaal championships where in Holland and Belgium, there only were riots in Belgium. Wonder why...... IT`S GOOD FOR RIOTS

I agree Peter Tosh is a great singer and is pretty cool. I like this song but I do think it's funny. Birds eat it? And then the bird noises. Yeah I don't know about the plausibility of the song, but animals and rich/sucessful people do love it, so he gets the point across.

"Smoking pot doesn't help any of the sicknesses he listed."

As a matter of fact, I think you're wrong.

For one, marijuana smoke opens up airways, thusly, it helps asthma patients.

Also, marijuana smoke inhibits vomitting. Therefore it makes having the flu a little bit more comfortable.

"As old as History itself, both Cannabis and Tuberculosis have been an important part of mankind's development [1]. Now new reports have opened up new avenues for research. Cannabis Seeds & Extracts were long thought to be among the only ethnobotanicals effective against TB, but the link remained elusive [2]. Then with Cannabis Prohibition all such research was stopped"

I have no information about Thrombosis, but Peter Tosh knew what he was talking about, and dreamer, you're a moron. Know your facts before you post.

airways in your lungs, that is.*

As opposed to tobacco smoke, which restricts your airways

as a matter of fact, I know a very successful lawyer who enjoys a good smoke. So yes, Doctors and lawyers enjoy the ganja. marijuana has also been proven to be useful in numerous medical conditions. so the question remains, why does cannabis remain a schedule I drug when several states have legalized its medical use?

its amazing how far music can come.. 24 years after it released and its one of the most heartfelt songs ive heard

Corpse I Fell In Love With
Gadjits, The
He reuses the verse melody from the previous album's "Dirty Little Religion", the topics of the verses are all over the place, and he packs too many words into one line (goes to show...) and too few in another (it's pretty hard to find), and rhymes "Henley Regatta" with "Persona non grata", but gets away with it all as only he could.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
