No comments yet?!? This song is just flat out great!! I think its about a guy who is talking to his buddy who had just been dumped. His buddy tell him to watch out or the same thing could happen to him. The guy is starting to really fall in love with his girl and is wondering if shes lying all the times that she says 'I love you' Thats what I think at least.
i think its about a friend of his that gets hurt, and tom is sayin to his girl that he doesnt want the same thing to happen to him

do agree that this song is about a fair warning of heartbreak - no pun intended ;) and the nature of relationships, however I do wonder about the lines:
