The world is quiet,
Like there's no one around,
But I feel you beside me.

I know the secrets,
You keep locked away inside,
Don't understand, why you are fighting.

I know, she must be special,
This new girl by your side,
I seek for answers, when I look into your eyes,

[Chorus]

And he turns, so I can't, but I will be strong.
For once in your life, be a man,
Just tell me the words, 'cause I know
That you can,
Don't leave me with scars,
That no one can heal.
For once in your life, be a man.

You made me love you,
Love you right from the start.
You're controlling my heart, babe.

Don't pack your bags yet.
Give me time to say goodbye.
(Say goodbye)
Just don't leave me wounded.

No, I just hope you will regret the things you do
Come back to me,
'Cause our love is the real thing.

[Chorus]

I knew that I,

I fought to keep our love strong.
If you leave me now,
You come running back for more, babe.
And I hope for, and I wish for,

And I pray, that the words from your mouth can,
Eventually make you a man.
For once in your life,
Be a man.

When everything stops.
For a minute in your life,
I'll hope that,
For once in your life, be a man

Be a man.
Just tell me the words, 'cause I know that you can,
Don't leave me with scars,
That no one can heal.

For once in your life, be a man.
Be a man.
Tell me the words.
Once in your life.

Be a man.
Tell me the words.

I think this song is about when someone is breaking up with his/her lover.

I really love this song, although its quite painful for me to listen to. This was the song i gave my bf (now ex) to listen to b4 breaking up wit him. I sums it all up very nicely. Except for the line "she must be special, this new girl by ur side", I totally felt like i wrote the song especially for him. Its too perfect... The song basically means that the you hope that the person you love, will eventually understand how much you care for them and confess their love and not leave you for other things in life.

this song describes EXACTLY how i felt they day my boyfriend left me. he did leave me for another girl, and i always told him thereafter that i hope for only the best for them, but that i will miss him always, and that he needs to start stepping up and being a man, and he has to fix that which he has broken.. he didnt do it for me. thats what i feel this song is about, trying to tell him that everything you do has consequences, and you need to step up and take responsibility for what you do to people in writing this song, she was clearly hurt, and in listening to it, it helped me to realize how pathetic he really was.

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
