A Dark Passage Lyrics
I feel cold
Facing the darkness
The light's gone away
Deep in his castle he said
All land'll be mine
There's one thing for sure
The triumph of shadow is near
Deep in his castle they sang
We shall not rest
Until all will be thyne
All land is mine
You can be sure
Don't dare me
the mighty one screamed
chorus:
Smashed down the light
I will not rest till I'm king
Valinor's empty now
allied the elves and men
they shall be damned
Rise of Fall
a dark tale ends
just wondering how
in the darkness
they found their way
to the right place
children of the sun
second kindred
we call their race
treat them kindly
born in the east
(are the) nightfearer
they moved westwards
towards the sunshine
(they are) morning breath like
short's their life
(like) dawn passes by
when the day comes
the field was lost
(and) hope had passed away
the sun went down
beyond the sea
dark was the hour
but day shall come again
chorus
Clean my wounds
wash away all fear
let courage be mine
noone hears me crying
no song no tale
which contains all the grief
(but)
renowned the deeds
and the victims of defeat
sit down on your chair
and look out for your kin
with my eyes you'll see
and with my ears you'll hear
you troubled my day
and you've questioned my strength
(but) don't mess
with the master of fate
chorus
I smashed down the light
and dared Valinor
I smashed down the light
revenge will be mine
Slowly marching on
still we're marching on
Facing the darkness
The light's gone away
Deep in his castle he said
All land'll be mine
There's one thing for sure
The triumph of shadow is near
Deep in his castle they sang
We shall not rest
Until all will be thyne
You can be sure

The 5th battle was the only battle not to be started by Morgoth; elves started it. It's one of the saddest tales of the Sil.
In the beginning, Morgoth boasts his greatness (ignoring the fact he hasn't beaten the elves) Then comes the arrival of men. It was a branch of the Easterlings that betrayed the elves. The 3 Houses of Men and the followers of Bor were allies of elves. As this songs said, no song or tale can contain of the grief. (but a nice try by BG) Hurin is taken by Gothmog and is imprisioned by Morgoth and is forced to watch the events unfold. (he was only released when Turin, he son died)
Yes, this is mainly about the capitvity of Húrin, and Morgoth also. Húrin is forced to watch the expanding power of Morgoth, and the sorrow that befalls his people because of this.
The chorus is Morgoth singing. He smashed the light.
It's about several things, The Battle of Tears Unnumbered (Nirnaeth Arnoediad), the coming of men from the East and the captivity of Hurin.
I Love how Blind Guardian always does things from the Villain's perspective, this verse in one of my favorites: "sit down on your chair and look out for your kin with my eyes you'll see and with my ears you'll hear you troubled my day and you've questioned my strength don't mess with the master of fate"
Poor Hurin
All the first part is from Morgoth point of view, until "Just wondering how". From there is obviously the description of the men getting to the Beleriand. These part: The field was lost (And) hope had passed away The sun went down Beyond the sea Dark was the hour But day shall come again
Is, I'm pretty sure, from Hurin point of view. "Day shall come again" is what He was crying out at every beat he gave with his axe, Aure Entuluva! "He cryed that out 70 times", he managed to kill 70 - and more- orcs alone before being captured alive. A great Man, indeed. Follows the Hurin grief part, and then the curse of Morgoth:
Sit down on your chair And look out for your kin With my eyes you'll see And with my ears you'll hear You troubled my day And you've questioned my strength (But) don't mess With the master of fate
I did not mention it was the Nirnaeth Arnoediad and so on, for other users already said that =) Thanks guys!
well, for those of you who dont know, thw hole Night Fall in Middle Earth album is based on the Book by J.R.R. Tolkien called "The Silmarillion". this song is about the 5th battle (nirnaeth Armoediad) or something like that, where Morgoth won badly and defeated turgon and all the elves and captured Hurin. this was also where MEN betrayed the elves.
