Livin' In The Band Lyrics
In the beginning
Not so long ago
There were five country rockers
I saw the very first show
And I jumped up with the crowd
To give a standing hand
Livin', livin' in the band
There were two from Colorado
And Texas and Nebraska too
Another came from Ohio
And they did not sing the blues
You had the feeling
They had nothing to lose
Livin', livin' in the band
Through the years and the changes
And with the will of a train
Some have parted strangers
Some have stayed in the game
And sooner or later you've got a winning hand
Livin', livin' in the band, Livin', alright
(repeat)
Livin', livin' in the band
Livin', livin' in the band
Livin', livin' in the band
(repeat)

What a classic! "Livin' In The Band" is a wonderful history of Poco from Paul Cotton's perspective in 1977. The song ROCKS...great work from Paul, Tim, Rusty and George...wonderful harmonies from Tim and George, and killer guitar and pedal steel interplay from Paul and Rusty. Thirty years later, I still get a big smile during the solo's in the middle...when Paul is playing, it's straight ahead rock and roll, but when Rusty's pedal steel kicks in, it's rocking country. One of the greatest moements in the band's catalog Anyone who thinks Poco was/is a bunch of soft rock wimps need to hear this great song/recording. Belongs on every Poco compilation from the ABC years.
