Tide to the Oceans Lyrics
Tide to the oceans
A million chuckers never felt wrong
Lookin' at you, I'm-a-starin'
Look at how you make me feel good, now
Broken like you know the child diction
Over at the naked show
Sarah couldn't make you feel down, now
Down, down, down, down,
Down, down, down, down,
Down...
Woooo-ooh (4x)
Wait...
For the last man
Last man never had a chance
So he went out behind the shed
And bought himself a little cigarettes
Underground, diggin' for a treasure map
Find your answer
When you ask, please ask me
Ask me to stay
And I say...
Woooo-ooh (4x)
A million chuckers never felt wrong
Lookin' at you, I'm-a-starin'
Look at how you make me feel good, now
Broken like you know the child diction
Over at the naked show
Sarah couldn't make you feel down, now
Down, down, down, down,
Down, down, down, down,
Down...
For the last man
Last man never had a chance
So he went out behind the shed
And bought himself a little cigarettes
Underground, diggin' for a treasure map
Find your answer
When you ask, please ask me
Ask me to stay
And I say...

A whistful Malkmus song that could be construed into a love song. He leaves the ending open with the final three lines. A minimalist song.
I would guess that this song is about downers (drugs) in general. I disagree with your idea that this is a love song. I think this is one of the lesser Silver Jews songs lyrically. You say minimalist, I say poorly constructed, meaningless.
I love this song and don't consider it a lesser SJ tune. It seems to nod to "Strawberry Letter 23."
