You cannot quit me so quickly
Is no hope in you for me?
No corner you could squeeze me
But I've got all the time for you love

The space between
The tears we cry is the laughter keeps us coming back for more
The space between
The wicked lies we tell to keep us safe from the pain
Will I hold you again?

These fickle fuddled words confuse me
Like will it rain today
We waste the hours with talking talking
These twisted games we're playing
We're strange allies
With warring hearts
What a wild-eyed beast you be
The space between

The wicked lies we tell that hope to keep us safe from the pain
Look at us spinning out in the madness of a roller coaster
You know you went off like the devil in the church
In the middle of a crowded room
All we can do my love

Is hope we don't take this ship down
The space between
Where you smile and hide
Is where you'll find me if I get to go
The space between
The bullets in our firefight
Is where I'll be hiding waiting for you

The rain that falls
Splashed in your heart
Ran like sadness down the window into your room
The space between
Our wicked lies is
The hope to keep us safe from pain

Take my hand
'cause we're walking out of here
Right out of here
Is all we need dear
The space between
What's wrong and right

Is where you'll find me hiding waiting for you
The space between your heart and mind
Is the space we'll fill with time
The space between
The tears we cry is the laughter keeps us coming back for more

The space between our wicked lies
Where we hope to keep safe from pain
The space between
The space between

    My Interpretation

My take on this song is something like Peppermint's. Although I'm not sure I see it as a break up. I think its about patience. And about feeling strongly for someone who is afraid and so they put their guard up. Think about it.. if someone is always fights your love, you start wondering if you should keep giving it.. Your guard goes up too. Then you are both on some weird roller coaster that doesnt need to be.. if they would only just relax and enjoy the good with you! Yet as the one more sure about it all, the lyrics speak about how even though it becomes warring hearts and even if she may of freaked, "going off like the devil in the middle of a crowded room" at the base of his heart he knows she is just putting a wall because she is scared and thinks it will keep her "safe from the pain".

So, he's trying to be patient because he knows she's not the devil and hopes that eventually she'll trust and let his love touch her heart like "The rain that falls. Splash in your heart". Drives him nuts. He fights back sometimes too. Yet all in all, he feels sure enough to want to be patient and reassure her with words like ... "Take my hand.... we're walking out of here... (together, out of this scarey place). I got all the time for you, love... Love is all we need... (Im not going anywhere...) The space between .... Is where you'll find me hiding, waiting for you..." In time we'll be okay cuz... "The Space Between, Your heart and mine, Is the space we'll fill with time..."

I feel this way about someone with their guard up. Don't know if it will work out, but my heart wants to show them I believe in them/us and see through the walls to a better place.. no matter how bad I do/want to fight back sometimes because when they act out and pull away.. it hurts. The first line of this song came to my mind tonight after a rough time... "You cannot quit me so quickly" .. sort of like saying .. Hey, I know it was a knee-jerk reaction, I know in the space you create between us, you will feel me and I will 'try' to wait for you there... But jeez.. you hurt me too and I dunno.. "but will I hold you again... " I'll try to be patient and wait.. we'll see how much I can take before it feels like a lost cause!! -Sorry for the double post, I posted in the wrong place earlier.

Step
Ministry
Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
