Help Me Make It Through The Night Lyrics
(Words & music by Kris Kristofferson)
Take the ribbon from your hair
Shake it loose, let it fall
Lay it soft against my skin
Like the shadow on the wall
Come and lay down by my side
Till the early morning light
All I’m taking is your time
Help me make it through the night
I don't care what's right or wrong
I won't try to understand
Let the devil take tomorrow
'Cause tonight I need a friend
Yesterday is dead and gone
And tomorrow's out of sight
And it's sad to be alone
Help me make it through the night
I don't care what's right or wrong
I won't try to understand
Let the devil take tomorrow
'Cause tonight I need a friend
Yesterday is dead and gone
And tomorrow's out of sight
And it's sad to be alone
Help me make it through the night
I don't want to be alone
Help me make it through the night
Take the ribbon from your hair
Shake it loose, let it fall
Lay it soft against my skin
Like the shadow on the wall
Till the early morning light
All I’m taking is your time
Help me make it through the night
I won't try to understand
Let the devil take tomorrow
'Cause tonight I need a friend
And tomorrow's out of sight
And it's sad to be alone
Help me make it through the night
I won't try to understand
Let the devil take tomorrow
'Cause tonight I need a friend
And tomorrow's out of sight
And it's sad to be alone
Help me make it through the night
Help me make it through the night

It was Kris Kristofferson who wrote 'Help me make it through the night' one of the most recorded songs, not Tom.T.Hall. Toms famous song is 'Old dogs and children and watermelon wine. Also, the title 'Help me make it through the night' comes from what Frank Sinatra once said, I have a whisky and a bible to help me make it through the night. The song is about sex, one night stand, and drugs and was never played on the radio until people like Elvis, Cash and later, Glandys Knight, her biggest hit.
It is about a lonely old man Who probably finally figured out that leaving home and being free wasn’t so fun after all and now he is without his family and very lonely and regrets it. I don’t know about y’all, but once I start my family I am never ever leaving them because I know the grass is never ever greener! My parents taught me that!! My brothers feel the same ❤️ Very sad and regretful song!
