Let me tell you darling I've been high most of my life,
And a dream is just a wish that a heart makes,
I used to sell ya, sell ya, sell ya only things you could find in a drugstore.
People used to tell me, tell me, tell me, just what kind of high they were looking for.
Take a ride on a purple airplane,
Honey I don't know when I'll be back again.

Cause I got broken bones,
Not from the sticks and stones but from the names that you call me.
I got broken bones,
Not from the sticks and stones but from the names that you call me.

Hey you got the picture do you know what I mean,
I'm the fire baby and you're the gasoline.
You like my characteristics, you like my stones,
Call me all the names you say and break my bones.

Well let me tell you I've been high most of my life,
And a dream is just a wish that a heart makes,
I used to sell ya, sell ya, sell ya only things you could find in a drugstore.
People used to tell me, tell me, tell me, just what kind of high they were looking for.
Take a ride on a purple airplane,
Honey I don't know when I'll be back again.

Cause I got broken bones,
Not from the sticks and stones but from the names that you call me.
I got broken bones
Not from the sticks and stones but from the names that you call me.

Hey you got the picture do you know what I mean,
I'm the fire baby and you're the gasoline.
You like my characteristics, you like my stones,
Call me all the names and say break my bones.

Take a ride on a purple airplane,
Honey I don't know when I'll be back again.

Let me tell you darling I've been high most of my life,
And a dream is just a wish that a heart makes,
I used to sell ya, sell ya, sell ya all the things you could find in a drugstore.
People used to tell me, tell me, tell me, just what kind of high they were looking for.
Take a ride on a purple airplane,
Honey I don't know when I'll be back again.

Sometimes singers just write songs that don't mean anything..

Well, this song sounds like it is about being in pain. Words and verbal abuse can hurt as much as any other kind. And, some people escape that pain with drugs. "I've been high most of my life." And the person wants to get out of this self-destructive situation "a dream is just a wish that a heart makes" but feels hopeless and without any choice in the matter.

I think this song is about somebody who takes drugs and deals them, to escape pain, i think they have been mentally abused so they take drugs to esape to the pain. 'Take a ride on a purple airplane, honey i don't know when i'll be back again'. I think thats referring to getting 'high' and escaping far away. 'People used to tell me what kind of high they were looking for' i think refers to what sort of drugs they want to buy. I think the 'i'm the fire your the gasoline' is referring to her and the person, but this person mentally abuses her so she takes drugs to escape that. I love the 'A dream is just a wish that the heart makes' very very creative but i'm not sure where this comes into the song meaning. But ye thats my vie won what it means maybe i'm wrong these are metaphores for a deeper meaning.

It’s about them being high most of their life, and selling. With a dab of narcissistic abuse in there. It’s just a bunch of factors of things in their life. Kinda says it how it is ????????‍♀️

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
