this song was written in response to the building of a wall, constructed as soon as the Berlin wall fell, between the border of the US and Mexico. there is a history of conflicts along this border concerning immigration. 'wilson's hand round my throat' refers to the republican governor who campaigned entirely on an anti-immigration platform. there are various references here to Latin history &culture, like 'path is Luminoso' which refers to the Shining Path, a revolutionary group in Peru, or Kid Cisco, a Mexican cowboyish type of hero among others. |

the song is about how people condemn others for differences in color, religion and so on; it is a song about bigotry. the 'burn crosses' line refers to a ritual performed by the anti-color radical group the Ku-Klux Clan. this also explains the 'chosen whites' part. yes, it also refers to police brutality, as evidenced by teh 'badge' part. cops have had a long history of deiscrimination and violence too, as seen in the case of Mumia Abu-Jamal. |

This song is about Mumia Abu-Jamal, a journalist, former Black Panther member and activist who has been on death row since 1982 for the alleged murder of a Philadelphia cop Daniel Faulkner. The trial was a joke, and in spite of eyewitnesses attesting a 3rd part who shot faulkner, abu-jamal was convicted and has been fighting for justice ever since, by releasing writings in journals, and in his book, Live from Death Row. Many have organized and rallied for his cause, but til today, their pleas have fallen on deaf ears. |

This song is about how media and the material products of the new age have great influence on today's society and culture. It is suggested here that through these, a sort-off brainwashing or 'mind rape' occurs; media is thus used as a way to sell propaganda or political messages, and is thus a potent weapon against the people, much like a 'bullet in the head'. |
