| this song, according to a website i came across, is about absolutely nothing. well, that is to say it is about satellites. the band was sitting around apparently and wanted to sing a song about satellites. they were probably on drugs but thats irrellevant because i still love the song. as for after her... the song HAD to have evolved from it. after her is an absolutely beautiful song and the music sounds identical. the music in after her is more crude because the song is not on any albums or anything. the chorus "winter's cold, spring erases..." comes from after her, that is why it makes no sense in this song that doesnt make sense, anyhow. like i said, however, i love the song | |

you still dont get my point 1) as a PROTESTANT christian, the sins of catholic priests should not be held against my people 2)the acts of a minority of a population do not establish the beliefs or actions of the majority of said population 3) i respect the beliefs of noappologies who said they dont believe in god or jesus so i dont know how you can say i dont respect others beliefs 4) you sir are the biggest whiner on this planet now lets see if you can refute my points (besides number 4) without vulgarity or degrading my beliefs |

| i agree with black cow. i dont assume that all "secular humanists" or whatever the hell you call yourself downgrade other people for their beliefs. you see, one or even 100000 bad apples doesnt ruin the whole bunch. honestly, i think i know what your problem is. its either an attention problem or an inferiority complex. either you thought that more people would listen to you or a you noticed that a bunch of people had it better than you. because of this, you decided to piss on everybody else and their beliefs. dont give us this crap about how you think our beliefs are valid when you made the comment "f*&^ your god and f*&^ your jesus". so far, nobody has downgraded your beliefs. on another note, i cannot speak for freemasons (personally didnt know it was a religion) but deists do believe in god. | |

ownpersonaldemon, i think you are missing the point. nobody on this string is forcing their views on you. in fact, you are doing more forcing than anybody else. what was that you said about f*&^ our god and our jesus? where are you coming up with these things about killing people and saying god wants it to be done? if youre thinking about the crusades or some other type of holy war waged by christians, that was a long time ago. maybe you forget that most of our founding fathers held strong faith in god. true, their actions were not always congruent with their faith, but that is besides the point. this is ALL besides the point, this forum is about the song which most people seem to like. you dont liike the song, fine. im not done yet, however. to say that reason and faith are on opposite ends of the spectrum is a horrible statement. many would consider it very reasonable to have faith. the thing i was looking for that you wrote is gone now, but i believe it said you have faith in yourself. i guess, by your definition, that you do not possess reason then |

| this is from the cd CRASh which i consider to be daves last stand. this is one of the best cd's ive ever had, but i think its the last great dave CD. he didnt even write alll the songs on everyday and he plays an electric guitar. this song, however, is wonderful. i was wandering if anybody else has heard the version he sand on the cd with tim reynolds. on that ( somewhere towards the end) he uses alternate lyrics that go something like "ill be your dixie chicken if you be my tennessee lamb, and we'll walk together down in dixie land, crash into me" i think that is very cool | |

| i commend noappologies for articulating his/her ideas in a construcive manner. he/she is right on about the song and other things. yes, some christians do bash gays and others, but the majority do not, also, i think most people, like noappologies, who dont believe in god or jesus do not make offensive comments towards those of us who do it just seems that the ones who are always talking do make those comments. i agree with noappologies about having faith in people, it can be just as important as having faith in god above. i also agree that it si better that this song doesnt state whether its talking about god or people. music can be beautiful no matter what it is about. i have found that some of the most beautiful songs out there are about not so beautiful things. for example, brick by ben folds five is about an abortion, the freshmen is either about suicide or drug abuse, blink 182's adams song is about a suicide, best i ever had (grey sky morning) is about breaking up. the list goes on and on and on, but the point is we read too much into music. i think that if music moves you to dance, then dance, if it moves you to cry, cry. i really was going somewhere with this but i am very confused. if somebody, anybody, gets what im saying, speak up! | |

ownpersonaldemon, i want to know how you can make generalized statements about the WHOLE christian community and not call yourself a bigot. you made the comment "you cant be a christian and be intelligent at the same time", is that not bigotry? most christian organizations are against homosexuality and abortion because it is against our morals. we do not, however, attempt to condemn these people to hell because that is not the job of a human being, that is God's job. thats why im not going to call you names, like you do to others. |
