I heard this song first at a wedding that Sam Bean played in 2000...claimed it was something he wrote over the weekend and played it. So techincally I heard it first. So I'm the only one who can like. Everyone else is a poser.
For real though, this song is quite beautiful. I saw the Austin City Limits where they played it live and wondered what the spanish guy's name was. |

I read the book "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" and really dug it. I listened to this song and dug it even more. I was wondering if anyone out there had a list of all the songs mentioned in the book? There was a clear list of a few of the songs in the book, but a few were unclear such as the song played when Charlie felt infinate. |

This is my all time favorite song with a somewhat jaded message. Some people say this song is about the AIDs crisis, but it is really a lot more tamer than that. It is about two adolecent kids in 8th or 9th grade who are not afraid to show their feelings for each other in front of their peers and elders. The lyric 'got to kick at the darkness till it bleeds daylight' is talking about how they refuse to let the world just remain as it is and they want to change it. |
