| Backstreet Boys – I Want It That Way Lyrics | 23 years ago |
The Backstreet Boys, so Ive been told, never pass up an opportunity to sing their little lungs out. This song originated in such a way, whilst ordering some burgers (and milkshakes) at their local Burger King. One of the guys, oh, lets say the one with the....er...um....glasses...YES THATS it, was ordering for everyone and saw another persons order and sang "I want it THAT way" He really LOVES his burgers, bless his soul, and pretty soon he got carried away and started getting all mushy and junk. "You are, my fire"- a referencing to the 'flame broiling' "The one, desire, Believe, when I say I want it that way" Apparently one of the other guys, oh lets say the one with the.....uh....goatee, didn't want it "that way" and they started to sing argue. "Tell me why, Ain't nothin' but a heartache, Tell me why, Ain't nothin' but a mistake,"- "mistake" was originally "milkshake", turns out he was lactose intolerant" "Tell me why, I never wanna hear you say, I want it that way " Yeah, it almost broke up the band but good ol' Lou (Pearlman) was there to make things right (and eat up the leftovers). He changed a few words and the rest is music history. And you thought they didn't write their own songs ::tsk:: |

Well redrum, if Im a peice of crap, wouldn't it be a given that I would also be dumb? I mean, you're basically just stating the obvious and awards usually aren't given for that sort of thing. Love, that dumb peice of crap over there. |

| Creed – My Sacrifice Lyrics | 23 years ago |
What a touching song. Scott wrote it after having to go through the painful separation each week when his wife washes his sweaty wife beaters. "Hello my friend we meet again It's been awhile where should we begin...feels like forever Within my heart are memories Of perfect love that you gave to me I remember" Gosh, he really loves those shirts. "Cause when u are with me I'm free..i'm careless i believe Above all the others will fly This brings tears to my eyes My Sacrafise" This particular part is a reference to the many spills and stains these shirts have aquired over the years. He becomes careless when wearing them and almost feels invincible. Hooray for his wife, though. She is obviously skilled with bleach and detergent. |

Yeah, I agree. The fans seem to love monotonous music. If thinking up and/or creating your own style isn't really in your gameplan, then maybe music isn't what you should be doing. Bad copycat music like this is like ear pollution. |
| Hoobastank – Crawling In The Dark Lyrics | 23 years ago |
Yeah, I agree, this IS a good song if you can look past the fact that the lead singer has the same demeanor onstage as the guy from incubus and the songs sound like incubus songs. Copying a band is one thing, but coping a mediocre band is something entirely different. Just because the two bands are from the same area thats no excuse for having no imagination or originality. Music has for some, become a means of making money, not an art. These bands are like some bad artist (me) trying to reproduce a DaVinci with crayons. Its a waste of time, space, money and energy. (the above statement is an opinion of the writer, Svendalina. He/she is in no way trying to pass it off as fact.-management) |

| Kelly Osbourne – Papa Don't Preach Lyrics | 23 years ago |
fu**ing? What, is that some obscure breed of dog? I never claimed that this song WAS about that particular breed. Also, if Madonna DID write this song, I would think she would have wanted to add a statement of some sort to the begging of Kellys video saying something like- "I wrote this song, Kelly didn't. I'm not sure if Kelly's version is about the same breed of dog as mine is but I think she has done a lovely job and I will look foreward to recieving a large royalty check." Ms. Mug, I thank you for your concern, you are a sweetheart. P.S. When you see people on the television, they can't hear you unless it is a live broadcast. If Im recalling correctly, the VMA's were taped. Thats okay, we all make mistakes....chao!!! ~Sven |

| *NSYNC – Girlfriend Lyrics | 23 years ago |
This song was actually written about a squirrel one of the boys found while on tour. The member (who will remain nameless) was quoted as saying that this particular squirrel had a "nice figure". He soon fell madly in love with it (it's gender was yet unknown) and penned this song with the word "squirrelfriend". Lou thought it was a bit creepy and replaced it with "girlfriend" thus the version we all know and love. It was soon revealed that the squirrel in question was actually a male with a wife and two kids in Texas. It's a cool song though. |

Thanks. I DID have a nice day...::whoa, voodoo?::...I saw them on the awards but I just thought that was camera trickery or something. I thought, wow, they sure can do some amazing things with those dobobs. Thanks for clearing that up. I get confused sometimes. |

| Kelly Osbourne – Papa Don't Preach Lyrics | 23 years ago |
"And to have the balls to perform and sing this song" WHAT? If you'll remember, she's a girl. Madonna did have a good version, but Kellys is better, livelier and about dogs. I seriously doubt that Madonna wrote this because I don't remember her ever having any dogs. I think she's allergic to fleas. Anyhow, everyone's open to their own opinion. I'm a cool gal. Sorry I'm not Swedish. They have good meatballs though. ::Giggles:: |

| The White Stripes – Fell In Love With A Girl Lyrics | 23 years ago |

I think The White Stripes are the best Lego band there ever was. I suppose it would be expensive to see them live though. What if while they are playing Jack drops his guitar or Meg drops a drumstick. It could take hours for someone to rebuild one for them. WEIRD. Not to mention making them move, I suppose they aren't THAT lively onstage. Ill bet their autographs are cool though. If I had their autograph Id never used it for spare parts in my Lego town. That'd just be wrong. Thats alright though, Im open to new ideas. Hmm, I still wonder how they eat................... |

| Avril Lavigne – Complicated Lyrics | 23 years ago |
This is a great song. Its autobiographical. Many people don't know that Avril suffers from multiple personality. She must have stood in front of the mirror when she wrote this because usually she's dressed in lacey skirts, peasant tops and espadrille sandals with the ribbons that tie up the calf like a ballerinas shoe. Now, imagine the shock when she looks in the mirror and sees that she's dressed in her drummers clothes and her dads tie, not to mention Christina Aguilera's makeup. She must have felt so scared and alone. So this song is just a reminder to herself: 'take your medication and before long you won't have to worry about looking like a poser dressed as a poser dressed as the drummer'. GO AVRIL!!!!!!!!! |

| Kelly Osbourne – Papa Don't Preach Lyrics | 23 years ago |
I think Kelly Osbourne wrote this song about her dogs. you see, her dad is always like "that dog pooped" and stuff and always wants to get rid of them but Kelly is just saying: "Hey, Pops, I know its hard work to take care of my dog/dogs but I can do it. Im not a baby anymore, will you still love me, support me and help me?" Some people may be under the false impression that its really about a baby but Kelly has always referred to her dogs as 'Baby/s' so it really makes sense. Poor Kelly though, it must be tough being single and raising all those dogs of hers, I have to give her credit. What a great heroin for us all. Madonna's cover of it is good, but I DO like songs best when they are performed by the writer. Kelly's such a great lyricist!!!!! |

| Creed – Is This the End? Lyrics | 23 years ago |
This one is about the time he had bad clams in Tiajuana and was suffering from an intense bout of diarreah. He was, needless to say, bummed.(No pun intended) He became close to the toilet and the soft paper on a roll used to wipe clean his bum. When it inevitably ran out you can imagine how upset he was. I personally wouldn't have written a song about it but what are you gonna do. The guys got a will of his own. I guess it turned out alright, eventually SOMEONE must have rescued him. He will always be a hero to me because he got through those trying times. Keep your chin up, Scott!!! Atta boy!!!!! |

| *NSYNC – Bye Bye Bye Lyrics | 23 years ago |
This song is about the stock market It was gonna be called "sell, sell, sell" but it was a buying market at the time. Figures though, because 'Buy, buy, buy" can have several meanings and Nsync needs all the meanings they can get. The writer is struggling with the situation, he wants to buy stock but his girlfriend doesn't want him to, she's scared, and rightfully so. But there comes a time when a guy just has to say 'Buy, buy, buy', In a relationship sense and in a stock sense. Nsync may not be able to write songs, or sing particularly well, or even play instruments, but they sure can withstand large volumes of screaming and for that I applaud them. |

| Creed – Torn Lyrics | 23 years ago |
This ones about that week he refused to bathe while his wife wanted him to make a salad to go with dinner. He had gone for so long without touching water or soap and knew it must be some sort of record, but he also knew he loved salad, and needed to make it or else he wouldn't get to have any. He was torn in more ways than one. Eventually he did the right thing and took the lettuce in the shower with him. Maybe he'll break that record some other time. At least he got a great song out of it. What a trooper. I love happy endings. YAY!!!!!!!! |

| Creed – Wrong Way Lyrics | 23 years ago |
This is an amazing song seeing as it was comprised soley of all the leftover magnets from Scotts personal "Magnet Poetry" set he uses to write songs with. There were a lot of 'what's and 'makes' left so he decided that that could be the basis of the song. This also explains why the sentence "Somebody told me the wrong way" is incomplete. Simply the IDEA of a song asking the listener a question is brilliant. Good job once again. |

| Creed – Don't Stop Dancing Lyrics | 23 years ago |
This song is about disco. This is evident in the line "A silver lining sometimes isn't enough"-refering to the glimmer of the disco ball "Children don't stop dancing"-refering to when disco no longer became cool "Hey God I know I'm just a dot in this world Have you forgot about me?"-this is Scott wondering why disco is no longer cool "Am I hiding in the shadows?"-this refers to Scotts inability to dance after an injury left him on the sidelines This song always makes me cry especially when it comes to the line "Believe we can fly"-which is a reference to Barry Gibb and the non sexual crush he had on him. DISCO ROCKS SCOTT ROCKS! GO!!!!!! |
| Creed – Unforgiven Lyrics | 23 years ago |
This song is about Scott Stapp coming to terms with the realization that 'Jesus' will NOT be happy when he finds out that Scott has been impersonating him just to get chicks(who don't even come anyway). He's basically saying, "Hey Jesus, I've been a follower for so long that now I feel I AM you but I know you won't be happy, but this is how I feel." Its so deep and beautiful. SCOTT ROCKS! |
| Squirrel Nut Zippers – Hell Lyrics | 23 years ago |
This song is obviously about pancakes-the food of the devil. This is proven by the line "Teeth are extruded and bones are ground And baked into cakes which are passed around" The cakes refered to there are the pancakes. What is being said is that pancakes are all that will be served in 'hell', they will be made of peoples teeth and bones and there will be NO syrup. NONE. ZERO. ZIP. And also that the dress code will be formal. |

| NOFX – August 8th Lyrics | 23 years ago |
I've always heard that this song was written about a day they played a show in Hawaii. It was August 8. It was a beautiful day. There may or may not have been turtles, guys named 'Jeff' and hippies there but hear this....the sun was DEFINATELY shining. It very well could be about LindzyMarie or Jerry Garcia, Im not disputing that, Im just saying, this is what I've HEARD. the end |

| Pearl Jam – The Whale Song Lyrics | 23 years ago |

this is a pretty self explanitory song about whalers and whales and the injustice of it all. It was written by the drummer, Jack Irons and if I do say so myself, the whales couldn't have anyone better on their side. |
| Pearl Jam – Satan's Bed Lyrics | 23 years ago |
This is a great song with a great message. There are a lot of stories about models and actresses "Such fine examples, skinny little bitch Model, role model, roll some models in blood Get some flesh to stick, so they look like us" who tried to get close to Eddie and use their 'Star power' to 'hook up' with him backstage at his shows or at his hotel. This song is just saying "I'm already in love". At a concert a woman screamed "Eddie, I love you." He fired back something like "how can you love me, you don't even know me...besides Im already in love" and went into this song. |
| Pearl Jam – Blood Lyrics | 23 years ago |
The lyrics also seem to allude to certain magazines that 'used' him. "Spin me around"-Spin magazine "Roll me over"-Rolling Stone "Fucking Circus"-Circus Magazine. Eddie also seems to use a lot of double meanings in his songs. "Paint Ed big. Turn Ed into one of his enemies." changes easily to 'Painted big, turned into one of his enemies'. Eddie has said that it became so bad that he started to hate seeing his face in magazines whereas, in the beginning of his career it was a source of novelty. |
