Brandon Flowers – The Clock Was Tickin' Lyrics | 13 years ago |
My favorite song on the record. Reminds me of Disney Pixar's "Up". |
Kings of Leon – I Want You Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Being from the South, I can relate to this song and see it from a somewhat different way than most of the interpretations thus far. The setting is some sort of Sunday School, or Christian Church Retreat, which generally means a group of hormone driven teenagers, boys and girls, go away for a weekend to a rural property to learn about religion and how it affects your choices in life. I remember my parents making me do these kinds of things in my adolescence up until I was a Junior in High School for my "Confirmation". Anyway, I can remember all the mischief we got into on those retreats. Kids who brought alcohol, tobacco, and in some cases a little pot. All vying for the attention of the opposite sex. "Get back on track, pick me up some bottles of booze The fickle freshman, probly thinks she's cooler than you A hay ride at 5, everybodys comin around So go press you shirt, cause word is there's a new girl in town" This is expressing the idea that we're on this retreat, there's some sort of social hierarchy which is decided by our high school grade level and there is a new girl in the group this year. "I call shotgun, you can play your R&B tunes The fellowship time, always comes a little to soon , Land of the creeps, freshened up and baby faced shaved But your eyes on me, and I know a place that we can get away" Calling shotgun of course means getting to sit up front in the passenger seat. This stanza takes place in the cab of the truck which is administering the aforementioned hay-ride where a truck tows either a trailer or a truck bed full of hay bales. Again, perhaps the eldest in the group get the privilege of driving the truck. Fellowship time is the real reason everyone's [supposed to be] there for in the first place. In my experience it involves a church service or some sort of group activity. "Land of the creeps" refers to the place of fellowship filled with horny teenagers dressed up for worship. Last line is wishful thinking, hoping you can lock eyes with the new girl and show her a good time elsewhere. "Homeboy's so proud, he´s finally got the video proof The night vision showed she was only duckin the truth It's heavy I know, the black cat with the gift down below A choke and a gag, she spit up n came back for more And said i want you" Homeboy is referring to the driver of the car who is most likely of African American descent with the "R&B" tunes the passenger allowed him to play. Narrator is being showed a "sex-tape" involving black friend and the desired new girl. Fellatio ensues and ends with the girl uttering the words "i want you"... to which narrator probably looks away from the video and says "I want you, just exactly like I used to, and baby this [video evidence you fucked my black friend] is only bringin me down" well, that's my $0.02 |

And again we are the same We are young and lost and so afraid There's no cure for the pain No shelter from the rain Oh and we're so into fame does anybody else notice these lyrics are a little off? |
The Jimi Hendrix Experience – All Along the Watchtower (Bob Dylan cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
yea... like jersey73 i feel this song is about jimi's career as a professional musician. when dylan wrote it, it was about his battles with the industry and popularity or "pop" music and the limits on being able to be as creative as the artist wanted to be. similar to smashing pumpkins' cherub rock... or floyd's have a cigar. on one live version i believe during the Isle of Wight jimi adds to the lyric with "But you and i Mitch, we, been through that..." sort of a clear indication of the artist not being able to execute the way he wants. |
