Why has no one commented on this masterpiece by Mr. Adams? hehe, well i will then :)!
The first verse really emphasises what the whole song is about:"they slapped 'em on you
where that bracelet used to be">>>means she was getting arrested, cos they were putting handcuffs on her, the next two lines: "you know the one i bought in phoenix
where they sell old jewlery " shows the personal relationship between the two. The line:"when i threw that drink in that guy's face
it was just to piss you off ">>shows how he doesn't like other lads chatting her up, due to his feelings for her. My favourite lines are in the second verse:"and i'm nothing now without you
yeah, i'm less than nothing now
i'm the one between the bars and lost forever now
'cause honey it's over " meaning, that he's nothing without her, his arrest signifies his loss, he can't live without her, so he may as well be locked up. I know that this is more than likely wrong, but it's just the way i interpreted it. He's a very talented artist is our Ryan :)!!! xXx |

When i first heard it, i thought he was singing about how american people have become so materialised that they have no feeling anymore. Hence the lines "Sing a song about myself,
Keep singing a song about myself,
Not some invisible world. "-he's making sure that he's singing about his feelings and not regarding the "invisible world" around him which is made up of materialistic things. I dunno though, all the stuff that you guys have said makes lots of sense too, and i agree more with your ideas.

Hmm, i found this song a lil bit difficult to understand, but what i think it's about is him having had a relationship with someone whom doesn't have ne feeling "And you're full of facts
But not things that could add up to words" Meaning she knows a lot of facts however she can't express them into her own feelings. And "Think about meaning more as an after word
As in afterward " i think means she spends too much time analysing things as in she doesn't just take things as it comes, she spends too much time analysing things. Hmmm, i'm not too sure about this song. I felt that the gift could be many things, but when i first heard it, my first impressions were that it was love, but when i looked over the words of the first verse i got the impression that it was about sex..."It's a hurting desire strong and sweet

You gave what you wanted then you went away " and when it says "you thought i was sleeping as you walked to the street" i think it means how she walked out on him, so it was kind of a one night stand scenario and this is backed up by "you gave what you wanted and you went away". But referring back to my instincts on this being about love, it could also mean someone leaving him in the middle of the night. Both of these ideas can be backed up by the chorus..."Did you mean what you did
Would you give it again
What you gave as a gift " he could either mean did the sex we shared mean anything to you and would you do it again. Or he could be referring to the relationship and wondering if she'd ever get back with him. The second chorus is again where it backs up my first instincts..."I went on a mission to the town where you lived

I want to see your face as a little child " this in my eyes is about him searching for her to get her back, but she isn't there and this is shown by when he says "Dark, dusty places you've not seen in awhile" he basically wants her back. Because he felt the love that she gave him was so much that he percieved it as a gift and he was very grateful for it, but he wonders if she'll ever give it him back. This songs amazing, its so good and it's one i can relate to, as i'm feeling exactly the same at this minute in time.

This shows how confused he is because he'd "do bout nething to get the hell out alive" which means he doesn't want to get hurt, but then he doesn't know if he'd "rather settle down". This song is all about him not sure whether he wants the relationship or not, and in the end he decides fuck it, and he does. Anyone that's been in this situation can relate to the song, and at the moment i can relate to it really well.
But by god i love this song, it is one of my faves of Pinkerton and Weezer are a quality band :) xXxXxXx

When i first heard the lyrics i thought that it was about suicide. At the start it goes "as he sits on the moor

I think that this means his "new found friend" is a weapon of some description that he will use to end his life. He then goes on to say: "please believe me when i say
this is how it has to end
this is easy on us all
well easier than other ways " i feel that this means that he thinks it's easier if he goes this way, because if he stays around he feels that it will cause even more misery. We are also shown that he wants to commit suicide by when he says "sleep is all i ask of you
sleep and not to wake again ". We are then shown how that he thinks about his family by when he says "to the ones who have loved me
and cared for me
and who die when i tell them
i just had to go " because he knows that they'll be gutted.

tears will come and i will end " this is my favourite part of the whole song, because it brings all the song together and makes it clearer of what the whole song is about. I absolutely love the cooper temple clause and i would recommend buying any of their records to anyone, especially "See this through and leave" it has to be one of my favourite albums at the minute. It's well worth buying :) xXxXxXxXx

I'm not actually too sure what it's about, but when i first heard it and read the lyrics my first impression was that, as it's sung as a duet with thom yorke, i think that it's about two lovers who are in trouble. They could have relationship troubles, or it could be to do with the law because it says "the sin-this mess we're in".
