| Rent – Will I? Lyrics

This song is so deep, even with its simplicity, because it reflects on the thoughts that run through the minds of people who have to live with the stigma of being different, or (especially) sick. I love it. It's just a pity that the man who wrote all of these incredible songs couldn't be around to see the true glory of his Broadway presentation. |

This song makes me think of this guy I've been in love with, but nothing will ever happen between us. I've often wondered if he would notice if anything were wrong with me, but in the end, we all have our fear and mine happens to be telling him how I feel. |

| Thoroughly Modern Millie – What Do I Need With Love? Lyrics

I saw Gavin Creel perform this song last week when I was in New York..and I have to say that he was FANTASTIC! Just listening to him sing this song MAKES you fall in love with him. I love the way Gavin goes from belting it out to tuning it down..his range is incredible, and his voice is just so beautiful. You have to listen to the song, the cd recording is exactly how he performs it live and he's so FANTASTIC I would go see Thoroughly Modern Millie again any day. |

| The Beatles – Ticket to Ride Lyrics

I think the lyrics of this song are pretty self-explanatory. The woman that a guy is madly in love with is leaving him. This is one of my most favorite Beatles songs, if not the most, mainly because I can relate to it. I fell in love with my best friend a while back, and he eventually found out. It was sad, mainly because I had always envisioned that moment to be just right, but it hadn't been. Instead, our friendship has become awkward, especially when we discuss our attractions to other people. I feel like a part of him has left me, because as they say in the song "for she [he in this case] would never be free when I was around" |

| Sarah McLachlan – Good Enough Lyrics

Personally I this song is about a person who sees the injustices being served to another person, a person she cares about dearly. This song affects me a lot, mainly because I've been in love with my best friend for a while, and eventually he found out, and it just hurts that we never ended up the way I had thought it would, he's just not ready for that. He told me "you and I have a connection with each other that other people won't even have with either of us" yet I know that if he had wanted, I would have been good enough for him. I guess life doesn't always work out for us, huh? =( |

| Looking Glass – Brandy (you're A Fine Girl) Lyrics

The song is also tragic. It's about a girl who pines away for the rest of her life after a sailor who wants to commit, but just doesn't have it in him. I think it kind of adds insight into the human mind. We want to think we're capable of doing everything for love, or doing the right thing, but sometimes we just cant and we're clouded by our selfish interests. |

| Vonda Shepard – Searchin' My Soul Lyrics

Vonda Shepard does an outrageously good job with this song. It's about liberation from a life that was previously covered with emotional baggage. A woman who finally feels mature enough to pursue a relationship and risk the idea of rejection so she can re-discover herself |

| Vonda Shepard – Baby, Don't You Break My Heart Slow Lyrics

I think this song is pretty much self-explanatory. She's in love with someone, but she clings more to the way things WERE than the way they are now. It brings into question a difficult decision to make. If you love someone and you know they're doing you wrong, do you choose to stick it through or do you face the truth and move on with your life? I think I would go with the truth and leave, because staying would only bring heartache, but it truly is a difficult decision to make. |

| Vonda Shepard – Tears Away Lyrics

Vonda Shepard has an incredible voice. This is one of my most favorite songs. It had a bit of a deeper meaning for me. I was in love with my best friend, and before I told him, I always thought these words would express how I felt. He could look for love in other places, and they wouldn't last, but if he looked at me the way I looked at him we could have had something real because I loved him more than any of the girls he went out with. Unfortunately, it didn't work out that way, which is something I'm very sad about because I truly did love him =P |

| Santana – Love Of My Life Lyrics

This song is so sentimental and meaningful. Dave Matthew's raspy voice gives this song a great emotional quality that would have been lost with any other singer. Personally, I think that this song is almost angsty, a guy who is in love with a women. Whether she returns the feelings or not, I don't really know, but I always feel like she doesn't when he sings it. |

| Sarah McLachlan – Ice Cream Lyrics

This is another example as to why Sarah Mclachlan is so talented. This song mixes the complex emotion of love with the simplicity of ice cream, because it's something we all love and were raised on. It's a bit sad to me though, I fell for my best friend and he turned out to be gay, but I still think of him whenever I hear this song. |

While many of you think that this song is about a woman/woman relationship [same sex, whatever], it's actually about Sarah's aunt, who died |
