I heard this song for the first time today and I really loved it...the meaning was kind of vague to me- it seems like there was a guy and he fell in love with a younger girl, and he just kept waiting for...she clearly moved on and never cared for him, and though he knows he's wasted so much time he just can't let her (or his conscious naivety) go? |

I had never heard much by OLP 'til I went to a concert in Ottawa a few weeks ago, and this was my favourite of any songs that they played. I thought it was beautiful; the lead singer (Raine Maida) said that this song was about realizing that the grass isn't always greener on the other side and that we should learn to appreciate what we have right now etc. Very beautiful. |

This song seems to be about the death of someone that you love. Listening to it, I can picture this guy all alone in a hospital room next to his dying lover just knowing that there's nothing he can do to save her and he has come to terms with the fact that the next time she closes her eyes may be the last (hence the "if you sleep you sleep with God") because she'll be at peace in Heaven very soon. Its very sad but beautiful... |
