Box Car Racer – I Feel So Lyrics 22 years ago
Urgh. I don't like this song. Yeah, I know, this site is supposed to be about the lyrics, so here's something about the lyrics: They're whiny stuff about a sad kid, and they include "I feel so angry/I feel so mad," which in my opinion is a really stupid redundancy. Tom and Travis, don't quit your day jobs.

=( Why don't they like Screeching Weasel?

Tilt – Weave And Unravel Lyrics 22 years ago
That should be "child of squalor" not "guild of squalor." I read the lyrics sheet inside the CD wrong, and then I realized it was wrong after listening to the song a bunch of times.

Sum 41 – Fat Lip Lyrics 22 years ago
I think some of you guys who are bashing Sum 41 may be taking yourselves a little too seriously. Yes, Sum 41 aren't punk; they may have punk influences, but they're not punk. But have they ever claimed to be? It's not like they used to be punk and changed after success; I've listened to both their albums and they sound exactly alike. Yes, they're not the best at their instruments by a long shot, and their songs are ridiculously simple. But the same could be said for the Sex Pistols. Yes, it's painful (for me at least) to see silly little girls who are the most obvious posers on Earth going nuts over music that has meant a lot to you for a long time. But it's not the end of the world, either. At some point, every musical genre suddenly becomes popular thanks to musicians who really aren't representative of the genre. It happened to rap, it happened to metal, it happened to ska, it's beginning to happen to emo. So I'd suggest that you try not to get too worked up about the punk fad.

Goldfinger – Open Your Eyes Lyrics 22 years ago
I'm glad I'm not the only one who misses old Goldfinger. It's not that I have anything against political bands. I like lots of them. But Goldfinger? Come on! I prefer "Lonely Place" and "More Today Than Yesterday" than this preachy junk. Plus, the whole anti-meat thing bothers me. I've done research on which companies treat the animals they kill inhumanely, and I try not to buy food from them, but I do eat meat. We humans were made to be omnivores. That's just the way it is. And I don't like people jumping down my throat telling me I'm a horrible person for that...especially because a lot of these musicians are so adamant about not letting anyone make up their minds for them. So in conclusion, I hope Goldfinger realizes that they are no Anti-Flag and shouldn't try to be.

No Use For A Name – Don't Miss The Train Lyrics 22 years ago
Ahh...this song is so great. This is probably my favorite No Use song. It and "On The Outside" give me chills. I'm having trouble deciding what it's about, though. I think he's regretting all the opportunities he blew and how he just let life pass him by. He's encouraging someone else not to do the same thing, and to take opportunities when they come. (Even though the two songs sound nothing alike, it kind of has the same message as "Warning" by Incubus.)

Weezer – Don't Let Go Lyrics 22 years ago
Well, this is one of the most straightforward Weezer songs. One of the only straightforward Weezer songs! It's nice. A bit generic, yeah, but nice. "i luv i rivers," I don't know if Rivers would really be a good boyfriend. He seems like he'd be kinda control-freakish; look how he treats his bandmates! And I hope he treats his girlfriends better than his fans, but maybe he doesn't. Of course, this doesn't mean I wouldn't jump at the chance to go out with him...ah well, we're allowed to dream, right?

Operation Ivy – Take Warning Lyrics 22 years ago
I think this song is pretty straightforward, so no interpretation necessary. I just want to say that this is the catchiest bloody song in the universe. It embeds itself in my brain!

Weezer – Undone - The Sweater Song Lyrics 22 years ago
You know what's really weird and random? I made an English teacher who is very close to me listen to this song. She said the "watch me unravel..." thing is from Macbeth! Macbeth is saying he doesn't want to care about what he's done. So maybe that's partly what this song is about--not wanting to care about anything, just wanting to drift away from your problems. Ordinarily, I'd have thought she was insane, but since Rivers can write an entire album about an opera, I think he can do Shakespeare references. Or maybe it's just a crazy song about nothing. Either way, it's great.

AFI – Yurf Rendenmein Lyrics 22 years ago
I don't know if this is what Davey meant by it (or did Geoff write this song? I forget...) but I took it to be like this situation with a couple of girls I know. They really didn't have difficult lives at all; they had friends and money and worshipful guys at their disposal. I've always pretty much been a loser hermit. And suddenly, they started trying to act like me--borrowing odd fashion statements of mine, alienating people and being antisocial. I don't try to alienate people or be antisocial, it just happens. I'm a shy person, but I know they aren't. So their personality makeovers are strange to me. I know it's not really them. And why did they change? I used to get so much grief for it, and it will only cause them problems. I can understand pretending you're popular when you're not, but pretending to be unpopular when you're not? I'm not exactly sure of their motivation, I'm not exactly sure what they're trying to do.

Less Than Jake – Where in the Hell Is Mike Sinkovich? Lyrics 22 years ago
I heard this was about a friend of the guys' who unexpectedly left town without telling anyone, and Vinny is wondering what's happened to him, and why he left like that. Easy enough.

Bush – Machinehead Lyrics 22 years ago
Ha! I finally found the words to this song. I can't put my interpretation of it because it was totally garbled to me. I thought Gavin was saying "I got a rusty head, it's better than the rest, I waffle my machine."

Ben Folds Five – Kate Lyrics 22 years ago
I think this is about Ben's wife, because in the liner notes of "Whatever and Ever Amen" it thanks someone named Kate Folds.

Unwritten Law – Seein' Red Lyrics 22 years ago
I really am not fond of Unwritten Law. And please don't jump down my throat--I've known who they are for a few years, just really never liked them. I think their lyrics are melodramatic and the tunes get kinda repetitive, but the only song I really despise by them is now this one...every bloody time I turn on the radio or MTV2, there it is. And the video! You know the part where there are three clones of the lead singer and one sings at a time while the others freeze? Well, am I the only one who noticed how that's a direct ripoff of the "Days of the Phoenix" video by AFI?

Crazy Town – Butterfly Lyrics 22 years ago
Uh...it's not bad, I guess. But seriously. One second it's this nice little mushy love song, then it's a typical sex song. The songwriters should have made up their mind about what kind of message they wanted to send out. Plus, the "It's me and you like Sid and Nancy" line is unforgivable. If a guy in real life said that, the girl would think "Oh, you mean you're going to kill me and then overdose? Aww, how romantic!"

Anti-Flag – Mumia's Song Lyrics 22 years ago
I like some Anti-Flag stuff, especially "Punk by the Book," but uh...I don't like this one. They kind of forgot a few important details in this song, such as the overwhelming evidence that Mumia Abu-Jamal was guilty. He was NOT a political prisoner. That's equating him with an innocent victim and it's disgusting to say that. I'm by no means racist and I don't support the death penalty, but there is absolutely nothing to contradict the ruling that Mumia Abu-Jamal killed Daniel Faulkner (spelling?). His own brother was supposedly there and hasn't said a word about him being innocent. All his supporters say there's so much suppressed evidence, but they can't substantiate it. Come on, people! If there's so much evidence that this guy didn't really kill someone, let's see it! You've had your chance! I think Mumia should stay in jail and they should throw away the key. And I hope nobody thinks this is racist. I would feel the same way if Mumia Abu-Jamal were white, Asian, Arab, purple or polka-dotted, and no matter what race Danny Faulkner was.

Ozma – Domino Effect Lyrics 22 years ago
I pretty much agree with "The Charade is Over." It's a nice song, with a really infectious beat, regardless of what it's about. I saw Ozma open for Weezer recently, and it was a lot of fun when they played this.

Sublime – Wrong Way Lyrics 22 years ago
I think it's about how this guy meets a very young prostitute girl...and he tries to help her, but she leaves. But he also does stuff with her that was definitely the wrong way to go.

Anti-Flag – Davey Destroyed The Punk Scene Lyrics 22 years ago
Does anyone know who the Davey in this song is? The only Davey in the music business who I can think of is Davey Havok (of AFI) and I don't see why these lyrics would apply to him. But no matter who it's about, or whether Davey just symbolizes a whole bunch of people, great song. It's definitely true that people think they're punk just because they're dressed like punks are supposed to dress, even though one of the main ideas of punk is not caring about fashion and how society thinks you should be.

Barenaked Ladies – Light Up My Room Lyrics 22 years ago
This is SUCH a sweet, pretty song. I could be totally wrong, but I think it's about loving someone so much that it makes you look at everything differently. All these small things you took for granted seem beautiful when they're around. Reminds me of someone...=)

Something Corporate – If You C Jordan Lyrics 22 years ago
I nearly had a brain hemorrhage when this song came on MTV2. I was on the floor in agony. Thankfully, I've only seen it on about twice, so hopefully SoCo won't be going down the Blink-Sum-GC-NFG route. Anyway, to all the people who told off this song because it's not all slow and mopey, all I have to say is "You make me sick, you make me sick." jk...Seriously, this is one of my favorite songs to yell along with. I know many people about whom this song could have been written. So it's not their deepest! Who cares?

Something Corporate – Punk Rock Princess Lyrics 22 years ago
I love Something Corporate, I really do. But they made a song called "Punk Rock Princess"! That's the kind of thing imprinted on a thousand shirts at obnoxious girly stores that posers wear!!!!! And you know the worst part? I ACTUALLY LIKE THE SONG!

Weezer – Only in Dreams Lyrics 22 years ago
Gah. Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. It was weird how they put it on the blue album, which for the most part was happy jump-up-and-down-and-sing-like-a-maniac stuff...and then lastly this song. As people said before, as good as it is on the album, it is so wonderful in concert that it's almost surreal. The blue lights and smoke and confetti...gah again.

Weezer – Buddy Holly Lyrics 22 years ago
I think it's about this dorky guy who likes a girl, who might also be a dork but is still pretty to him, and is approaching her. Maybe she's getting made fun of, and he's trying to protect her or make her feel better. If only Cuomo were as nice as the guys in his songs.

Weezer – My Name Is Jonas Lyrics 22 years ago
This is an amazing song. I don't have the foggiest idea what it's about and I don't care. It does sort of sound like the kid in The Giver, but my guess is that's coincidence.

Less Than Jake – Johnny Quest Thinks We're Sellouts Lyrics 22 years ago
