Primus – Tragedy's A-Comin' Lyrics | 6 years ago |
@[rejesterd:25275] Holy shit, I need some of whatever you're smoking/ingesting. |
Primus – Eyes of the Squirrel Lyrics | 6 years ago |
Hint: It makes a lot more sense if you replace "the eyes of the squirrel" with a similar-sounding phrase, "the eyes of the world." |
Primus – The Ol Diamondback Sturgeon (Fisherman Chronicles, Pt. 3) Lyrics | 6 years ago |
@[Prog_Rocker:24265] You need to pay more attention, then, son. You're missing entire layers of meaning in the vast majority of their work. |
Combichrist – God Bless Lyrics | 8 years ago |
I think everyone is missing the second link between these serial killers, and thus the meaning of the song. They're all American. The song is mocking the fervent patriotism of the "God Bless America" crowd. |
KMFDM – Pussy Riot Lyrics | 9 years ago |
@[janeaparis1:3345] You're a tool if you haven't been able to see the sociopolitical commentary running through virtually EVERY KMFDM song. |
And One – Deutschmaschine Lyrics | 9 years ago |
It's basically about Germany breaking free from history and rediscovering its own identity. This song was written in '94, only a few years after the reunification of East and West Germany (1990), which was really only possible because the West German economy was so strong (due in large part to its industry; thus the German machine) it could handle reunification without collapsing. |
And One – Deutschmaschine Lyrics | 9 years ago |
From the valley of the past forgotten, but ever-ready she came to party into eternity She shines so wonderfully Makes your dreams real she sings, dances and laughs because you give her a new energy She's buying the future that's why she's selling you so proud yet tiny she must be something German The German Machine lives The German Machine lives The German Machine lives The German Machine lives (she lives) The machinery of this world fights the false hero Whether from the Kremlin or White House we unplug The German machine lives ... (Note: "she" can likely be replaced by "it" in this song; it just happens that the gender for the noun Maschine (and therefore Deutschmaschine) is feminine in German) |
KMFDM – The Problem Lyrics | 9 years ago |
It's about the system of crime and punishment in general in the West, but especially in the US. We make examples of people. They become a spectacle and we incarcerate or execute them, declaring that the problem is gone. But every day, the same shit plays out. How many mass murders do we put up with until we realize that the problem isn't the individuals. "If there is a problem, there's a problem with the system." Our culture breeds these individuals. We are ALL guilty until something changes. |
KMFDM – Bitches Lyrics | 9 years ago |
I agree. What makes KMFDM great is how their lyrics have several layers of meaning. At the end of the day, they're a band, not a political party; fans take them way too seriously and attribute way too much to them. |
Barenaked Ladies – Who Needs Sleep? Lyrics | 10 years ago |
For all those who think sleep is unnecessary, you should watch this TED talk: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWULB9Aoopc |
Barenaked Ladies – Who Needs Sleep? Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I believe this song is about PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder). A lot of soldiers coming home from war have had sleep disturbances, among other symptoms, which we previously called "being shellshocked." In the first few seconds of the song you can hear a military marching sound, which recurs after each verse. |
RJD2 – 2 More Dead Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song always makes me think of how third parties must've seen when my brother and cousin died. They were in the same car, and both were extremely drunk. The phrase "two more dead" sounds so impersonal, objective, and harsh... A phrase that ignores the fact those who have gone before us were people too. People who lead their own lives, loved, were loved, smiled, laughed... The lines "Run away" and "I'm down on my knees" in the song also makes me think of how I felt when I first heard the news. |
Terminal Choice – Animal Lyrics | 21 years ago |
First things first... NIN is awesome. Trent Reznor is extremely talented, and you cannot deny that. The "fuck you like an animal" part is in no way associated with NIN. The term has been around for ages kiddies. |
