| Between the Buried and Me – Mordecai Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| That's because iGod was quoting Tommy. BTBAM used to have explanations up for all of their song lyrics on their website before Alaska was released. He simply copy/pasted one such quote. | |
| Converge – Fact Leaves Its Ghost Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| While I'm sure that some of the members of Converge are straight edge, I don't think that this song is about straight edge. While the lyrics could suggest that it is ("You call it your right, I call it your weakness"), I think they're written from a more general point of view in regards to destructive lifestyles. I could be wrong though and the song may in fact be about edge. | |
| Between the Buried and Me – The Primer Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
"1. A textbook formerly used in primary education to teach the alphabet and other basic concepts." I think that has the most relevance to the lyrical content. I don't think that Tommy wrote these lyrics solely with what love and marriage have become, but with how the normative values of Western Civilization have have changed drastically from what they once were. It seems to me that the lyrics are from the point of view of someone who easily gives into these "new" conceptions of what societies norms have become. The only thing I'm confused with is the Jostick revolution bit. Meh. Just my $0.02 |

| Opeth – Nectar Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Regardless of what the song's about, Nectar has some seriously great riffage. It's easily my favourite Opeth song. | |
| The Dillinger Escape Plan – 43% Burnt Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Dude, you do realise that genres exist to differentiate between styles of music, right? Denying such a claim is ignorance. BTW, I don't like Pearl Jam. |
|
| Cryptopsy – Graves Of The Fathers Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| How can no one have commented on such a great song?! | |
| Cannibal Corpse – Fucked With A Knife Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
*WHOOSH* That's the sound of the point of this type of lyrical content flying right over your head, malleable__. The gore lyrics are a gimmick. They're tongue-in-cheek, satire. They're not meant to be taken seriously. I'm not even going to bother commenting on the Hitler comparison. It was completely tasteless and unnecessary. |

| Aesop Rock – The Greatest Pac-Man Victory In History Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
It sounds a bit like he's describing a summer spent doing acid all the time, rather then selling it. The first verse sounds like he's describing some personal experiences he's had with it. I'm not quite sure what to make of the second verse though. The meanings a bit hazy due to the wording of it. "your lizard king has spoken" sounds like a reference to The Doors, "Celebration of the Lizard" |

| The Dillinger Escape Plan – 43% Burnt Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I'm sorry, but you now have absolutely no credibility thanks in no part to calling Meshuggah a nu-metal band and lumping them in a genre categorey infinitely inferior to what they play. They play post-thrash metal. Very technical post-thrash metal, NOT NU-METAL. | |
| The Dillinger Escape Plan – 43% Burnt Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| You do realise that Patton only did vocals on the "Irony is a Dead Scene" EP, right? He didn't go any of the vocals on "Calculating Infinity", which this track is from. With that said, Dimitri's vocals are awesome, as is this song. That and Dillinger aren't a metalcore band. | |
| Between the Buried and Me – (Shevanel Take 2) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
"This song is about recognizing what you want in life and being courageous enough to go after it, regardless of the sacrafices you may have to make. -paul" Taken from the bands website. Needless to say, this is an amazing song. I love it, the lyrics are so inspiring and meaningful. Beautiful, just beautiful. |

| Green Carnation – Light Of Day, Day Of Darkness Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
The solo at 41:55 sends chills down my spine everytime I hear it. It's THAT GOOD. It's probably also one of the best solos I've ever heard as well. The song as a whole is simply amazing as well. I love it. |
|
| Porcupine Tree – Gravity Eyelids Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
The song is clearly sexual in nature, though I couldn't say whether it is or is not about child molestation. There is lyrical evidence to support the idea, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was about two young lovers or something else. Oh well, it's an amazing song nonetheless. |
|
| Porcupine Tree – Arriving Somewhere But Not Here Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Such an awesome song. Am I the only one who was expecting there to be a bit of double bass drumming during the heavy instrumental section? I was waiting for it, but it never happened :( It would have fit in perfectly as well. |

Yes, there is a video. It's quite hilarious as the first postr noted. You can watch it here: http://www.svhs.svsd.org/vp/archive/v1/contentplayers/projects/project4/comebackkid.html |

| Blind Guardian – Guardian Of The Blind Lyrics | 21 years ago |

This song is based upon Stephen King's book "It". An awesome song, one of my favourite's by BG. |
|
| Cryptopsy – Open Face Surgery Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I'll have to agree. This is also one of Cryptopsy's best songs. |
|
| The Dillinger Escape Plan – 4th Grade Dropout Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Sounds like it's about a child molestor. | |
| The Dillinger Escape Plan – When Good Dogs Do Bad Things Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
This song to me sounds like it's about a guy who's found out that his girlfriend has cheated on him and he wants her to know what it did to him. The title "When Good Dogs Do Bad Things" goes with theme in saying that the guys girlfriend acted like an angel, then turned out to be a whore by cheating on him, completely destroying the image of her he perceived. "I'm the best you will ever have You're the best I'll never have" The guy thinks that his girlfriend was the best thing to happen to him and then realises that he'll no longer be able to look at her in the same light. "Pain.. Gone. Rain.. Stop. Sun.. Shine. You're.. Mine." He doesn't want to believe that this happened to him. The next two lines ("Here kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty" & "MOMMMY, MOMMY, etc..") call forth his girlfriend and vent some rage, then send her running home to her mother. "Listen: Listen through the walls The sound of quick footsteps sneaking down the hall Whispers The pages turning The leaking roof The toilet flushing Numbers on the license plate" He's recalling when he found out that she was cheating on him. He came home and heard some noises upstairs or wherever, people whispering, a person running. "The pages turning" could mean that he realises that his life has just been changed, or it could have the same effect as the next two lines in that he hear's it amongst the sounds of his girlfriend and her partner freaking out because the boyfriend just came home. "The Numbers on..." would be the boyfriend seeing the partner running out to his car and seeing him drive off. "I'm nothing more then The best you'll never have A speck on your bedroom wall A blood red waterfall" Again, he's thinking that she's missing out on what could be the best thing to happen to her. The rest of the song sounds to me like he's going through all of the memories he's had with her and the other assorted thoughts that are running through his head about the entire ordeal. It also sounds as if he has some rage built up inside and just wants to blow up in her face, let her know what she did to him, and then make her suffer for it. He ends it by, as some others have said, breaking up with her in a diner. The last line shows that he's still full of rage and sorrow, but he probably realises that there's nothing he can do but move on. Of course, this all just how I view the song. For all I know, it could be about something that has absolutely nothing to do with what I said. |

| Metallica – Trapped Under Ice Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
It sounds like someone with a heroin addiction realising that his life is wasting away, hence being 'Trapped under ice'. Most of the lyrics seem to suggest this. The line "I am dying to live" seems to suggest that the person realises that they are doing immense harm to their body, possibly even killing it, inorder to get their fix. The line "Hand of doom has a tight grip on me" sounds to me like a reference to Sabbath's 'Hand of Doom', a song which itself is about heroin addiction. |
|
| Death – The Philosopher Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
An absolutely amazing song. I think that it's about a person who feels that they are the know-all of everything going on in the world around them, including things that are not within their grasp (ie; other peoples personal affairs.) This person isn't even quite sure of his own matters but continues to make false insights about everything else going on. For all I know, this may have an even deeper meaning regarding something such as media. Meh. |

| Opeth – Advent Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| While I do like the song, I prefer Nectar. Advent does fucking rule though \m/ | |
| Porcupine Tree – Four Chords That Made A Million Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I'll have to agree with sepultribe99 on both statements he made. | |
| The Offspring – Nitro (Youth Energy) Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
Pretty Fly (For A White Guy) was only more popular because all of the teeny-boppers liked the song. Why? Because radio stations overplayed and overpraised the song. Believe me, it's just not that good. Nitro on the other hand...:D |
|
| Iced Earth – Dante's Inferno Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| It's about a journey through the 'Nine Planes of Hell', with each new plane bringing something new and demonic. | |
| Iced Earth – Melancholy (Holy Martyr) Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| This song is about Jesus' crucifixation through his own perspective. | |
| KoЯn – Faget Lyrics | 24 years ago |
|
Faget is a song about how Jon Davis was a social outcast while he was in highschool. Everyone treated him differently and put him down because of the way he dressed, the music he listened to, and because he didn't want to be what other people wanted him to be (among other things). This could also apply to the song Clown... |

| Slipknot – Spit It Out Lyrics | 24 years ago |
| Thanks :D | |
| Slipknot – Wait And Bleed Lyrics | 24 years ago |
|
Argh! I forgot to add this... "Inside my shell, I wait and bleed..." I believe that the 'shel' symbolises the bath tub where the man bled to death... |
|
| Slipknot – Wait And Bleed Lyrics | 24 years ago |
| Apparently this song is about a man who dreamed that he was laying in a bath tub with his wrists slit. When he woke up, he realised that he really was in a bath tub with his wrists slit, and just waited and bled to death... | |
| Slipknot – Spit It Out Lyrics | 24 years ago |
|
Heh heh heh...I somehow submitted the lyrics before I finished typing them O_O; Oh well, I resubmitted the complete lyrics =D |
