Pearl Jam – Satan's Bed Lyrics 21 years ago
Very AWESOME song, one of my favorites. It is about the temptation Ed has to deal with from models chicks. Very funny song too.
Favorite line is: I shit and I stink, I'm real, join the club
Some of the PJ fans need to read, and understand that one line.

Pearl Jam – Tremor Christ Lyrics 21 years ago
Winded is the sailor...drifting by the storm...
Wounded is the organ he left all...bloodied on the shore...
(The guy is tired of not having control of his life, his heart he left behind on the shore.)
Gorgeous was his savior, sees her...drowning in his wake...
Daily taste the salt of her tears, but...a chance blamed fate...
(His girl was gorgeous, but he is leaving her behind in his wake. He is blaming his problems on Fate)
Little secrets, tremors...turned to quake...
The smallest oceans still get...big, big waves...
(He kept his addiction secret, just had tremors to deal with, but now the tremors have become HUGE Quakes he cannot hide. The smallest amount of the addiction can turn Big, Big.)
Ransom paid the Devil...He whispers pleasing words...
Triumphant are the angels if they can...a get there first...
(He paid money to the dealer which is refered to as the Devil. The dealer told him pleasing words.
The angels can save him if they can get there first, meaning if he can get ahold of himself and think sanely before he needs another fix.)
The next few lines are him changing his mind, wanting to get his life back.
Then he turns the bow back and decides to go back to his girl, and put his faith and love in the tremor christ, which basically means he is going to try to deal with the tremors, and get help.
Difficult song to understand.

Pearl Jam – Not for You Lyrics 21 years ago
Not for you means the music is for the people, not a single person, especially YOU alone. So stop screaming at him, trying to call him, invading his privacy. You wouldnt like someone invading yours! (IF you hate something dont do it too) Go out enjoy your youth. With no power you had nothing to do, he still remembers, don't you?
Unfortunatley, Ed is famous, and will never be left alone. I think now he has accepted that, but when he wrote this he didn't.

Pearl Jam – Indifference Lyrics 21 years ago
I think this is simply a rebelious song, saying I will do what I want and live my life the way I want. How much difference will it make to you?

Pearl Jam – Leash Lyrics 21 years ago
I believe this song is about Teenagers, telling them to unite, and be friends and then it turns and tells the Parents and Government and everyone like that to drop the leash and let them live and enjoy their youth.

Pearl Jam – Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town Lyrics 21 years ago
I believe the song is about an Elderly Lady Behind a Counter in a Small town. She is the person telling the story. She had a great friend, who had so much in common with her in her past that they could joke and laugh about anything, but her frined left and she stayed. Now her friend is back and different and she would have like to had gone but (No one has ever taken me) She just wants to scream HELLO and how wonderful it is that her friend has returned, but the person she knew is no longer there, and they are different people. (Here you are, and here I am.) and thats all. Very sad song.

Pearl Jam – Dissident Lyrics 21 years ago
I think the song is definitley about a woman giving her child up for adoption. She probably wanted an abortion, but her religon was against it. (A Holy NO)
She nursed the baby over one night. She wasnt so sure she wanted him to stay. (She didnt want a baby to start with, so she didnt want to stay and nurse him.) Then I think she is thinking about what happened. Soon she was down, soon he was low. Soon she laid down and the doctor was low, deliviring the baby. She had to turn around references how she had to leave the baby and walk away.
To this day shes glided on always home but (The baby) is so far away. Then when she did have contact with the Child, there was some meaning, but she had sold him to the state. Gave him/her up for adoption. Once again, she had to turn and leave her Child. The references in the song to her folding is how her whole life folded away after this, and I believe Ed is trying to point out that because of Religon and the State women should have the right to choose not to have a child as opposed to ruining their entire life. So many people think abortion is wrong when you can just as easily have the child and give it up, when that is not true, which this song is attempting to point out. AWESOME song!

Pearl Jam – Deep Lyrics 21 years ago
There is three parts to this song. The first part is about a drug addict pondering life as he takes an injection.
Part two is a man who fells he is better then anyone so he feels quite superior. The line, the aged come makes me think of a girl coming of age. I am not sure if he is committing suicide with the knife or killing someone else. Maybe the knife is only figurative as he is putting someone down and making them feel bad.
Part three is pretty disturbing as an angel comes down from heaven because she feels she is nothing to god, and ends up being raped. (As he sinks himself deep)

Pearl Jam – Garden Lyrics 21 years ago
I believe this song is against modern day religion, and would have been very controversial if anyone knew the meaning of it. The Garden oif Stone is a Cemetary, meaning he will go to be buried when he dies but not be taken. Taken by religon, because he dont need the need to live. He accepts when he dies, he is not going anywhere.

I think you have got it all wrong. This is simply a song about Eddies love of Surfing. He wrote it on the beach, and there are direct comments to surfing.

Pearl Jam – Even Flow Lyrics 21 years ago
Yes, that makes sense, he is homeless but not concerned about it like everyone else. He is flowing evenly, going about his day, whenever he starts to worry about things, he chases the thoughts away by thinking some day yet he will begin his life again.

Pearl Jam – Black Lyrics 21 years ago
Here are some interesting facts, on the original version of Black, that was on the demo tape sent to the record studios, The following lyrics were different.
All Five Horizons = All MY horizons.
That makes more sense, Ed probably changed it to reflect the 5 band members for some reason.
I taught her was everything = I gave her everything.
Not sure why this was changed.
How quick the Sun can drop away = How quick the sun can drift away.
Probably changed to seem more sudden, once again not sure. If you are interested in getting a copy of the original demo version, email me at Benplace@yahoo.com.

Pearl Jam – Alive Lyrics 21 years ago
This song is split into three versus, the first verse is when the kid finds out that his step dad is not his real dad, and when he was 13 his real dad was dieing and he never got to see him.

The second verse is where the mother falls in love with her own son, because he looks llike his Dad did. The Look, You know where, is her Pussy, and the reason he is staring is because she is turned on. He cant believe she is wet. Kinda sick, eh?

The final verse his Mother is pretty much insane and now believes he is his father, she says Something is obviously wrong, because your still alive. And if that is the question who should be answering, Me or my father??
Hope that clears everything up fro everyone. And, yes it is a Trilogy. That continues with the song Once, then Footsteps.
