ok i just read all 190 comments and i have a few things to say 1) no one really had anything original to say after about halfway 2) "because its so popular" is pretty weak reason for a song being great 3) how was there a jimi hendrix version if hendrix died in 1970 and the led zeppelin iv (or four symbols, or symbols, or zoso, or untitled, whichever youd like to call it) came out in 1971? was it performed over a year before it was released (like how some songs from houses of the holy, which was released in mid 1973, are on the new live album how the west was won, which features performances from mid 1972)? 4) this song is great, maybe not my favorite led zeppelin song, but still great. led zeppelin is however my favorite band. im not exactly sure what the song means, but my friend said something about it being about some lady trying to buy her way into heaven(like those people who give money to televangelists). this makes sense, and was also previously stated somewhere on the page in different words i do believe. |
