Mazzy Star – Fade Into You Lyrics 15 years ago
This song could be about learning to accept and be comfortable with yourself.

Perhaps a "double entendre" ? Perhaps to dream...

Lynyrd Skynyrd – Tuesday's Gone Lyrics 19 years ago
Could this song be about cocaine abuse ruining the relationship he has with his woman and he is leaving her ? Or to take it a step futher, she died of an OD ?

Additional lyrics from '82;

Hear what Ginger says, talks like she ain't nobody's fool,
Hear what Ginger says, she tries to live by the golden rule,
"treat other people right, other people probably treat you cool..."

The Doors – Soul Kitchen Lyrics 19 years ago
Interesting sidebar: I saw Robbie Kreiger (sp ?) at the Van Dyck in Schenectady NY just before the MTV Doors thing they did. He was rehearshing, it is a tiny place, maybe 40 people in all. Anyway, he mentioned before this song, "have you ever listened to the lyrics of this song ?". then something to the effect of how he thought they were one (if not the one ?) example of how Morrison really was a genius, even to those who knew him...

Anyway, that's my story, and I'm sticking to it !

Dave Matthews Band – What Would You Say Lyrics 21 years ago
Not sure I can add to the debate, but here's my spin...

I think this song is asking you to put yourself in the position of Adam & Eve, or anyone who has made a huge mistake. It could be about infedelity as well ? (Likely I suspect)

What would you say if your selfishness had screwed everything up ? You might be a bit defensive and fatalistic...

Who knows ?

You only live once !

Grateful Dead – Franklin's Tower Lyrics 21 years ago
I've heard over the years an explaination that says this song is about snorting cocaine thru a $100 bill. It's very interesting if you break out an old style $100 and look at the bill while you read the lyrics. On the front is old Ben himself. One the back is Freedom Hall in Philly in which the liberty bell rests. A slang word for money is dew. It's always been a status symbol to roll up a franklin and snort. Roll away the Dew ! If you plant ice, you gonna harvest wind !

Grateful Dead – Box Of Rain Lyrics 21 years ago
Kind of late now, but I believe fikus was correct. Hunter has discussed where this one came from. He wrote it with Phil when Phil's dad was dying. Hunter described to the effect that "the words wrote themselves". IE. In a very, very short period of time.
