Beautiful cover of the Savoy song. I dont believe that the song is cynical per se, merely about a girl that has no romantic feelings at all towards the guy, a user and well he knows it, but her voice captivates him anyway and he cant help himself. As for the video, that gives it a nice angle. (How the US didnt appriciiate a-ha at time, according to the director..note how the girl wears the us flag) |

i think its about Elliot md trying he wa sorojecting his insecurites to another poersonm real or imagined, the one that whats to leave, that is confused about the world and the assholes in it. sadly, not the bets version...and more sad still, most people that have covered this tragic song have ruined it too. Ye original is till the most famous and distressing, mainly for the history surrounding it, and thr suicides that sprang from it. Not just the original author, who wrote the song after breaking up from his girlfriend, who strangely enough committed suicide cluthing a note with the words "gloomy sunday" written upon it, but many who listened to it, over 100 in hungary alone.
