i always thought that my father might actually be a God reference... the language of sin and the devil, and the house... all really evoke a biblical toil |

I think this is about a love filler, they're only gonna last as long the singer wants them, and then he cuts them off for the one he really wants (the cut off being the Mayfly idea)> he's totally using this dame to get closer to other loves, while getting with her at the same time, but he don' care. |

I wouldn't say its that much about drugs, actually.. I'd say its about going through a rough time in your life and using drugs as a way to hid from that pain... youve got "not a friend to help you through," so, as the beatles would put it, you get by with a little help from your friends. but now someone or a group of people missed the you who has been gone so long, and they're saying to come on back down and be with us, and toss all the stuff youve let drag you down off your back "got to scrape the shit righ' off your shoes." I think this is a song about coming to terms with yourself and moving on after a very long period of darkness. This is my favorite stones song. |

This song is about when you have this huge change in your life, like, you just broke up with your third girlfriend of the month and you want to move on, but you just don't know where that next girlfriend is going to turn up. |

This song is about when you totally want this really hot girl, but she doesn't like you, she actually likes your best friend, and of course he likes her too, but he doesn't want to tell you, so they secretly meet and start dating without telling you. And that's totally something I can relate to, I hate when guys do that. |

These crazier Dylan songs are like Benny Hill goes to the Circus or something, just this crazy life where everyone is a kooky idiosyncratic character -- i dig dig dig |

A good song of analagous theme is John Mayer's "Quiet," don't bother telling me he's no Dylan, I know, but just a sugesstion for a different take on the wee small hours. |

This whole album seems to be someone who is going through a maajor self-developement period in their life, "Person Pitch" makes me think of how people "pitch" an idea, well person pitch would be giving a version of yourself a chance --- as for how that applies to the song, well, i'm not sure if he's giving advice to someone, or if its a self-directed vow, but it seems to be a list of life laws that one should strive for. i'm not sure if the "try to remember to always have a good time" is sarcastic, as in how some people block out talking about important things like death, or if its meant to take life as a joke, kind of like Monty Python's "Always Look On The Bright Side." Iono
as for the songs title, hell if i know, maybe Lennox had a sudden moment of clarity in a Nautica store.
awesome some some song |

At a Metro concert I went to Boeckner said before starting this song, "This song is about my mother.... who died..... Three years ago.... today...." It framed the song in this terrible sad yet hopeful way.... and then they proceeded to letaway a killer performance of it. |

I'll bet a bucket of worms that this song is derived from a William Blake poem called the Chimney Sweeper about an orphan chimney sweeping kid -- the same story as this is, he even uses weep and sweep like-a-da Blake does. |

I think this song is actually a girls perspective, although Stuart sings it. I believe that its about a girl who was drunk or something, and a guy forced her, or as literally said, raped her. Now it seems that she's got pregnant ("I missed my time") and she's freaking out to her friends who don't understand. This is sad. |

I think that this song is sort of a continuation of "Blower's Daughter" i get this from the lines "Love one's daughter" and the song title seems to maybe come from "Blower's Daughter" itself, "And so it is... the colder water..." so maybe this is like the sequel to Blower's, the next step, or maybe the step before? |

Well, I came up with my own Billy Shears theory today.... I think it's original ( at least it is for me) anyway. William = Will = Billy Shakespeare could = Shears.... It's a very long shot, but Billy Shears = Will Shakespeare, would be a cool reference, just an idea |

Well I was at chruch for christmas, and was bored/curious. I was in the process of reading a prayer for owen meany then, so I was checking the song book. It turns out there are two songs for that, which are basicly the same "May the angels lead you" and "May the Angels Lead You Into Paradise." I was quite content with the finding, and it's my favorite song and impeccable for the book. Although I can't be entirely sure that the phrase is derived from the book. |
