Mushroomhead – 43 Lyrics 22 years ago
"dyslexic I'm wide awake and I'm wondering if there is a dog"

-Dyslexic...dog=god. There ya go...religion is at the heart of a lot of Mushroomhead songs, and this is one of them. Also my favorite song on the album.

"calculating my miscalculations"

-Seems like he's worried he's made the wrong decisions regarding religion...this is further supported by the end "God, dog, God, dog agnostic, insomniac"

"Sighted blind, Braille is fine, two black eyes"

-I think this is talking about how he just can't understand religion, and how anything will help because it's putting so much pain and stress on him.

Now, as for the beginning...I have no idea, nor do I with the chorus. The rest of this could very easily be wrong, but since nobody has really tried to interpret it, in depth I thought I'd give it a try.

Slipknot – I Am Hated Lyrics 22 years ago
I'm pretty sure this song is talking about all the bullshit pop bands around. The song obviously has different meanings, but I like the idea of the "anti-pop" meaning. Anyways, here we go:

"The whole world is my enemy - and I'm a walking target
Two times the devil with all the significance"

-Everyone is into this shit, and it seems like everyone is against him and his opinion on how gay pop music is. It's such a big deal that it's more significantly "wrong" than Satan is.

"Dragged and raped for the love of a mob"

-Talking about how the pop scene is all about suckin up to the fans and just doin whatever it takes to stay popular, no matter what kind of "musical" sacrifices are made.

"I know you're all tired of the same ol' bosses"
"Welcome to the same ol' fucking scam
Same ol' shit in a dead fad"

-This seems to be targeting boy bands specifically...how we've all seen it before and it's nothing big, and sucked then and is no better now.

"Everybody wants to be so hard
Are you real or a second rate sports card?
They all lost their dad or their wife just died
They never got to go outside - SHUT UP
Nobody gives a fuck
it doesn't change the fact that you suck"

-This is probably one of my favorite lines by Slipknot ever. It's just talkin about the bullshit lyrics in pop songs, and how they are nothin but posers and what they're saying has no truth behind it at all.

"(We are) The anti-cancer
(We are) The only answer
Stripped down, we want you dead
But what's inside of me, you'll never know
(We are) Bipolar gods
(We are) You know what we are
My life was always shit
And I don't think I need this anymore"

-Chorus is about how they're going to get rid of the pop scum. "We are the anti-cancer" (they're going to get rid of this contagious and growing following).

"Now I'm not pretty and I'm not cool
But I'm fat and I'm ugly and proud - so fuck you
Standing out is the new pretension"

-Everything in pop is about image. Corey is just sayin fuckin the image is about the music.

"You gotta see it to believe it, we all got conned
All the mediocre sacred cows we spawne"

-Talkin about how people worship these shitty groups.

The rest of the song I'm having trouble finding the connections, but I know they're there (I'm just tired as hell). Lemme know what y'all think about this interpretation.

Mushroomhead – The New Cult King Lyrics 23 years ago
Yes, this song is definitely about religion. Here's my take on a few of the lines.

"you're always brighter in the daytime you fight it after midnight" says two things to me. 1) it's easier to believe in religion and all during the day, and at night you start to question it more as you start thinking more deeply 2) during the day you generally conform more to society and religion, while at night youre more likely to rebel, and break laws and such...so by brighter he might be meaning more religious, and fighting it at night means fighting the rules, and trying to break away from it.

"it just seems to me it's such a joke every new walk thru life just inherits Christ you should have to prove something first" seems to say how much he thinks its all bullshit, because it makes no sense that you can just basically ask for Christ, and not do anything else and he will save you.

"search for signs to light the path show me the way savior send a glimpse to glance and renew my faith" I think this is saying how he wants to believe and is searching for guidance (hes also quoting scripture here), he just needs some sort of proof.

"nails through hands and feet on this cedar grave atone for sin can this be can my soul be saved" This obviously refers to Christ on the cross, and how he is wondering if his soul can be saved.

"I think too much need to believe in something real don't need this crutch because it just deceives" This is saying how religion is just a crutch to help people get through tough times, and doesn't hold any true relevance, and that if you think about it that this will be obvious.

"challenge me once more to hold my head above water drowning quick flooding in soaked through my lungs" I'm not sure about this part, but I think he is talking about how he's fighting to believe in Christ. How he is going through a lot of pain (possibly dying) yet he's trying not to try to take comfort in Christ because he knows it's not real.

"judgment day the verdicts in it seems the jury is hung" This seems to be talking about how on judgement day, people will realize that there is no religion to save you, because it's all a lie.

Well those are my views. I think this is Mushroomhead's best song, but far its deepest, and it has a ton of meaning, much of which I still can't understand after listening to this song many many times. But that's why this music is enjoyable, who wants to listen to punk and pop and rap where there is no meaning to try to understand.

Mushroomhead – Solitaire Unraveling Lyrics 23 years ago
I think ThePhil has the right idea as to what the song means. Almost all of Mushroomhead's songs refer to religion, atonement etc. in some form. And yes, the "Solo as my pilot" line does most definitely refer to Han Solo from Star Wars. And I'm almost positive that Rembrandt is the character "Rembrandt Brown" from the Sci-fi show "Sliders" (that's my guess at least since it is referred to in the same line as Solo). I have no idea what is being referred to, through these two characters, but I thought I would tell you who I'm pretty sure Rembrandt is.
