Disturbed – The Sound of Silence (Simon & Garfunkel cover) Lyrics 8 years ago
I've loved #Disturbed for its blatant heavy sound, but I have to say their covers are by far my favorite part of what they do. I didn't think they would ever top Land of Confusion, however this song just leaves it in the dust. There is just something so ethereal and powerful to hear a singer who has DEFINED himself with a very distinct vocal style sing completely contrary to that style.

After watching the reverent awe and honor Draiman pays to the song on his interview with loudwire I am even more impressed with the song. I personally feel he tops the original with his homage, but it does not in any way diminish the original which is STILL amazing. I feel like BOTH songs exist well by telling the same story from two emotional view points.

In Simon and Garfunkel's version it's like they have been living in this world forever and all they have left is the ability to softly cry out against what they see is wrong. So there is this air of crushing sadness that permeates through the entire song and ends with this quiet admission that they failed to end the sound of silence.

With David it's more like he just realized this is the real world he has been living in. So it starts of with this haunting reflective sadness like remembering something depressing but significant from your childhood, then he at first gradually, and then rapidly shifts from frustration to anger at the FOOLS who would not take his arm or hear his words. Finally shifting to a depressing acceptance like Simon and Garfunkel that he also failed to end the sound of silence.

In a word; Moving.

3OH!3 – Don't Trust Me Lyrics 14 years ago
OK not sure if anyone has pointed this out yet or not because i don't have time to read through 7 pages of comments but the lyrics are WRONG. As a result everyone's interpretation that I HAVE read is WRONG.

He's not talking about someone else being a ho. He's talking about HIMSELF.

Here's the chorus only a small change to the last line but that line is what makes it so damn funny.

She wants to touch me wahoo.
She wants to love me wahoo.
She'll never leave me wahoo, wahoo hoo hoo.
don't trust a ho.
never trust a ho.
won't trust a ho.

DON'T TRUST ME.

I mean come on the song is called "Don't trust ME"

someone needs to fix the lyrics if i knew how i would but other wise funny freaking song.

Cheers,

Ryan

Five Finger Death Punch – Never Enough Lyrics 16 years ago
Well guess I get to go first.

As a guy who was born with the genetic defect to seek out women who are never happy and then spend years failing at trying to make them happy, this song has a profound meaning to me.

Just the entire tone of the song is exactly what it felt like to me. To me you can hear it in his voice. The combination of regret and anger being replaced with a feeling of failure brought on by shear mental and physical exhaustion.

The entire lyrics just fit all too well to my worst relationships but two parts in particular stick out in my mind.

First when he just keeps screaming out and repeating "I'M DONE!!!"

It's simple but it puts in words so eloquently what it's like when you've finally had all you can take and you just give up completely.

The other part finally puts into words perfectly what I have always felt but never could voice.

I'd rather hate you, for everything you are,
Then ever love you, for something you are not
I'd rather you hate me, for everything I am
Than have you love me for something that I can't

Little long comment but feel this song kicks ass and deserves a good comment.

That is all

Cheers,

Ryan

Demon Hunter – On Thousand Apologies Lyrics 18 years ago
Awesome song but they forgot the section after the kubric film audio clip.

Ryan starts growling 4 times:

"Count the cost of your vile ways! Solace comes down last!"

To me this is one of the most important part of the song. since he wrote it for an unnamed person that he had hurt. at this point in the song he's so pissed at himself that's he reminds himself to look at how much pain and damage his actions have caused. Then acknowledging that it will be a very long long time before he was any peace from what he has done, that his actions and the results of his actions will continue to haunt him

12 Stones – Bitter Lyrics 18 years ago
To me this song seems to be about the general failure of the parents of the young adult new generation, and the effects on those kids sung from the kid’s perspective looking back at growing up

"Mother mother can you hear me, I keep trying
Just to find me all I know now, all you show me,
Endless questions, hopeless ending"

He is trying to get advice from his mom on how to discover who he is as a person and she doesn't help at all only pushing her idea of what she thinks he should be. So in the end the only thing he knows is what his mom told him leaving him with hopeless questions that only lead to more hopeless questions.

"Father father will you be there as I cry out
Silent again turning colder, frozen deeper,
Numb to this dream sleeping within"

He's crying out for his dad to be there for him, and only getting ignored and pushed aside.

"Before I face another day, won't you let me stay asleep?
Lost among the dreams that always comfort me
And before I find my feet, won't you show me
What I need, what I need to walk again"

at this point he's reaching a breaking point and he's seeking any escape from reality to avoid dealing with his life, but still he asks his parents what he should do because that's all he knows how to do

"This bitter pill is pushing me away and now I feel
Like there's nothing left to say and I pretend to
Look the other way but in the end will I be okay,
Will I be okay? Never ok again"

In the chorus he's expressing his fear and frustration because his anger and bitterness for how his parents raised him are driving him away not just from them but anyone he tries to have a relationship with. He pretends to not notice the wrongs done to him but at the same time he realizes he will never be right

Seether – Fuck It Lyrics 21 years ago
To me this song is about someone who has tried everything to satisfy someone he cared about very much in his life and she just treated him like shit. and he finally just said fuck it and gave up. now he's reminiscing about what he went through but in a bitter sarcastic way.

this song kicks so much ass mostly cause i went through the kind of relationship the singer is singing about so this song has a special place in my heart.
