Hot Water Music – Where We Belong Lyrics
|
From the Live at the Hardback booklet:
I see this song as a story of crucial turning point in two peoples lives. Two people who found a peace through love they thought they would never know, and learned how to keep it.
One cold New Years Eve in Richmond, I realized exactly where I was, where I have been, and where I belonged. She wasn't around but I knew she felt the same. Though we had split and frayed the blessed romance tike and time again, it seemed like it had never really ended.
So, from the rooftops then, to the rooftops now we've seen why we're still here and who we're both about. It's been three and a half years since I fell, watching her play solo through the window in alley of the Hardback. The same place I found myself, later, writing down the words to this song. Now like the color of the light on her dress then, I'm still on fire. |

here they're saying we have to make a choice between letting oppression go on "With your hands on your head" or confronting it "on the trigger of your gun". |

Sublime – 40 Oz. To Freedom Lyrics

Second Hand Smoke is mostly remixes, and bad ones at that. Their self-titled is their best in my opinion, but if you want to hear them before they had the benefit of all kinds of expensive studio work, get 40oz. |

Hot Water Music – Sunday Suit Lyrics
|
I think Jinx got it right. He's saying that living a good and moral life is what matters, not believing in a god. "I've found peace on my own. Sunday suit never fit quite right, maybe why I left Siddhartha style, I choose a path of open minds, am I damned for it?" |

Hot Water Music – Minno Lyrics
|
From the "Live at the Hardback" booklet:
In remembrance of an old friend who took his life under the 13th St. bridge. He left us for reasons that no one but him may every understand. Though we were left uneasy and confused, we were left with the memory of all the good in him. This is for Minno. Rest in peace. We'll remember you. |

Hot Water Music – Manual Lyrics

Here's what it says about this song in the cd booklet from "Live at the Hardback:"
It seems that everyone, at one time or the other, gets a calling. Or gets a tugging on the heart for some kind of choice of direction. Some follow that tug, while other do what is expected of them. Some break the rules to feel free while others abide just to get by. "Manual" is a farewell song for our brother and great inspirations, David Williamson, who is known to split at any given time, on foot or otherwise, in search for a better way. His integrity and true free spirit helps show us what is living
is all about. His generosity and benevolence radiates the fact that there is more to this world than greed and hostility. Just as his companionship and loyalty remind us of our family outside of blood. We still bid him farewell. As we patiently await his returns. |

Bush – Cold Contagious Lyrics

i'm a big fan of bush, but i don't find any of their lyrics very meaninful. they're poetic, but incoherent. i think they're just going for a certain sound, not any central theme or meaning. |

the obvious meaning is longing for someone and masturbating, but i think that's just a metaphor for homesickness and the desire to return to where you came from, or to regain the kind of life you left behind. |

Death Cab for Cutie – Little Fury Bugs Lyrics

to me this song is about living in a situation where the people you try to be friends with may not have much in common with you, and you don't know them well, but you try to play along anyway. |
