knowing the way nevermore writes their lyrics it is most likely cryptica's interpretation. i've seen a bunch of religious analogies with nevermore, and i can say that they aren't really for religion in their music. the people saying these things probably just think too much about religion and associate everything to it if they can. |

how can it be the wrong song name? i got it directly off the band's website. and i own the album.
and whats with everyone thinking its like... jesus... though i think you have a small idea about it, i just thought it was a fan of the band = follower of jesus. and jesus = band. that was my interpretation, since at one show the lead singer, mark ward, said he doesn't like playing the song or writing it, even broke into tears when he did it live. a song about jesus and a roman soldier wouldn't have such an emotional impact on the lead singer. |

you know what the freakiest part is? most of this song's lyrics were written in 1992.
this song was based off the song 'the world unborn' from their 1992 demo.
in that song he talks more about color of skin and stuff... so yeah... weird eh

first off i'd like to say: in flames isn't nu-metal, the stuff here is nothing like nu-metal. i saw in flames live recently fuckin incredible show. even the new songs were done pretty good. this is their radio hit on the album... they ALWAYS got one. just gotta see it:P
also i like that they are experimenting. there's nothing wrong with that. they've been doing it since clayman. so stop talking shit cause they are a good band. good band meaning trying new stuff. personally i liked what i've heard of this album better than RTR though this song just really bites. it just sux.

i think the new songs suck ass. they are overly produced, and way to repetive. this is perfect example of this. the whole song may as well be the chorus. they did this with all the new songs. its extremely irritating. especially since most of the time the bass drum follows the guitar, very "the same" the rythm is not unique. two main guitar riffs don't make a song, well not in my opinion. i loved their first album, but this new one just sounds the same all the way through out. i mean look at these lyrics. the first 4 lines are practically repeated. it seems like they had a 2 minute song that they had to stretch to 3 or 4 minutes to be "radio friendly". after tehy play through the song once, they do it again. i feel like i'm listening to a loop. then they end with the chorus twice and part of the begining. at first listen, it sounds good, but after about the 3rd one, it just the same thing over and over again. there aren't many songs off this album that don't do this as much, rise is one of them since he changes around the lyrics a bit, but he should do some variation of melody, cause to me it sounds the same. rise is mainly composed of like 4 guitar riffs and rythms. again not really enough. also, i'll put money down that they recorded this stuff once, and then looped it the way they wanted it. they could also do some vocal harmonies or something to change around what u hear. most of the time its not like that. if u wanna hear something not so repetive, take a listen to almost any Iced earth song, or blind guardian, or really any band like that. they have a defined chorus and everything, but its not like its the same all the way through. almost every verse is significantly different. well my rant is up hopefully u guys can learn from this. |

hey don't say this means they are losing their sound. look back at old in flames. the song timeless on the album Subterranean was a softer song. completely acoustic. even back on Lunar Strain they had some softer shit. Everlost [Part II] is a good example. so i don't think they are getting softer, i think they are difining their sound and staying the same, on almost every album they've had some softer shit. personally i like this newer direction In flames has gone. |

this is one of my favorite songs In flames ever did. the guitars are just so kick ass! i hope they remake this song one day like they did with behind space, which is also one of my favorites. after listening to this song you think, are they softening up? personally i don't think so. i think they are forming their sound. just as most bands do. it takes time and i think its great how they are actually singing in their songs and becomming more melodic with the vocals. i love the screaming and shit in this song but it can get tiring after a while. plus a singer can't sing like this forever it ruins their voice...
