Black Sabbath – N.I.B. Lyrics 22 years ago
True, true.."Nativity In Black" is NOT what NIB stands for.
The previous posts about Bill Ward are correct, I'll try to fill in some specifics..
Bill Ward had a beard that came to a point, and, Ozzy being drunk, started calling Bill "Nibber" because the beard looked like the end of a pen nib. The name gravatated back to Nib and, having this untitled song, they decided to use the nickname as the name of the song, and, as Ozzy puts it, to make the title sound more menacing, they put periods in between the letters.

This song, according to Geezer whom wrote the lyrics, is about the Devil falling in love. Geezer did this because he couldn't write a love song himself, and decided to make Satan the man who falls in love with the woman.

yousaidpunksucks -
while i agree on most pf the things you've said, one thing you are wrong about is that the album came out FIRST. The album was released in November 1979, and while the concept was concieved as a stageshow, album and a movie at the same time, the album still came out first. The album, beforementioned, came out November 1979, and the movie didn't even start production until September 1981.

WhiteMagic - the line you quote in "Mother" doesn't even exist. So I suggest YOU do YOUR homeworlk.
The interpretation which says the shot Pink is given is adrenaline is correct. It was not Heroin.
I am American like you, but when you use petty personal insults in an arugment, it makes the person look like a moron.

Local H – Hands On The Bible Lyrics 22 years ago
Personally, I think this song has to do with a female junkie who is forced into getting an abortion when she does sexual deeds.
"Homicidal
Stare down your idols
A pretty baby never to be born
You can't pretend that you don't know the reason
For the the repent that you saw"

Pink Floyd – Brain Damage Lyrics 22 years ago
Ok..well..the concept of Dark Side of the Moon is that of the factors in everyday life which lead people to madness. I believe that "Brain Damage" is the final culmination of insanity..the factors which lead to it are discussed, and "Brain Damage" is the actual insanity as it happens.

The problem is that people try to look for deeper meanings within the album "The Wall"
You need to pretty much take these songs without reading too much into them.\
On that note..
"Hey You" starts the second CD of "The Wall", directly after Pink realizes that his wall of isolation he has built around himself is complete. "Hey You" is Pink trying to call out to the outside world but realizing that his communication has been cut.
You need to understand the concept of "The Wall" to understand the songs on the album.

Brad is correct..this song has nothing to do with drugs.
It comes from a true story in which Bass player/lyricist Roger Waters had food poisoning and needed a shot of adreneline to feel well enough to play the show.
The lines..

Can you stand up?
I do belive it's working, good
That'll keep you going through the show
Come on it's time to go.

Is the administrator of the drugs, seeing the correct affects on Roger, and it goes further by saying that the record companies just wanted a show and did not have a care in the world for the safety of the performer..

The verses sung by David Gilmour are the memories Pink (lead character in The Wall) has after getting the adreneline injection, remembering a childhood sickness which almost became fatal.

More clearly, the album Dark Side of the Moon is a concept album which tells of the factors within everyday life that drives a person to insanity.

From what I could gather with various interviews, the song itself is based on a movie in which a man goes to the future and sees total destruction. He goes back to try to attempt to alter the end of the world, yet the end of the world is caused by his attempt to stop it, and the song is based on his struggle to stop the destruction.
That's what I heard on Ozzy DVD's, I guess you have to read into the lyrics a lot, because it is in no ways obvious.
