Two different voices in this song. One is the girl, the chorus is the guy. I think it's about how guys abuse girls who have been abused before. Maybe a stretch but that's just what I think of when I hear it. |

In my opinion, backstreet lover is a girl he has raped and killed. The eyes closed thing is him just being crazy and angry. I believe it is referring to him while he is having sex with somebody...probably that he will kill. |

I don't know if I agree with it being totally about trying to find some kind of meaning in life. I believe it is based on an actual experience that the author had, but I don't think that he is proud that he is searching for this external gratification. Maybe a stretch, but I think its a play on words when they say, "when everybody loves you son, thats just about as funky as you can be." On the one hand meaning the obivious meaning that funky is a positive adjective and alternatively that someone would have to become "funky" to be loved by everyone. |

This song is about selling you soul. The narrator is talking about this person who has compromised his integrity for success. It talks about how you destroy your foundation when you sellout like this and that the people you have done this to impress will end up hating you if you fall. You will have nothing to support you when you fall and everyone will be against you. Anyway, that's what it means to me but it could also be about a relationship i guess. |

I think this song is encouragement to be true to yourself and to believe in yourself. It says you should live in the moment and not the past. It's not so much about any one night in my opinion, but I art is in the eye of the beholder. |

I think that this song is about a guy who has gotten back together with his girlfriend after a breakup. The trust has not been completely restored to the relationship and that is basically what he is asking her for. He is telling her that he will always be there for her in the relationship but he wont tolerate it if turns back into what it used to be. |
