@[yezzir:52031] You're 100% right. There are clearly two syllables there, first one being "the". And "day" fits in perfectly with the rest of the song, whereas "base" does not. This error has persisted for decades, and has been carried over to most of the lyrics sites. Only Genius.com has corrected this. |

When I went there to pick it up, it wasn't in a plastic wrap, and it had a small hole pierced through a corner of the jacket. I was told that it was a promotional item, i.e. given to the station to promote the album, and that the hole was punched to prevent it from being sold as new. A similar thing was done with decks of cards used by a casino. |

That songbook was clearly written by some clerk at the record company that didn't care about getting it right. Certainly NOT written by Hodgson or Davies. |
