@[asugar:54335] I agree, except that brother was taken, tried and hung. There’d be no time for forensics. I assumed 2 guns. Could be 1 but I doubt it.notessential since there was no time for ballistics. Judge needed supper. Hangry? |

@[jeffrey111:54332] yes! Brother comes home, Bro goes the Webb’s bar. Bro meets Andy there ( not planned) and Andy, his best friend tells him that his “bride” isn’t home tonight, but that she’s cheating with Seth, the son of Amos. Andy says stay calm, Bro leaves. He finds wife missing, goes to family home. Finds gun.
Why does he go to Andy’s house? Just part of the story. He sees small footprints, too small for Andy, best friend past tense. Wife? No. He sees Andy dead. Best ex-friend. Fires a shot to flag the patrol. ( has this man no sense of self preservation whatsoever?) so of course he’s guilty! Not.
Turns out little sister killed Andy. For the cheating with bride? Or telling Bro? Is Seth even guilty? Doesn’t matter.
Little Sister kills Andy (best ex-friend) AND bride(new wife of Bro).
Innocent Bro dies, as sister can’t get there to explain.

@[YeepYeepYeep:54330] I agree! Let’s not over think this. “I’ll be coming for your love, OK? “ I don’t know why he’ll be gone, but he’s clearly trying to get her not shy away from him, even though he’s “stumbling away” “at Odds and ends”. |

Yes, he loves her as she sleeps beside him. He knows that age is leaving him and vows to hunt high and low for her. I’ve been devastated by love, and the pain lasted 37 years! Of course I moved on, but always wanted him.
However, I’ve also had a couple of stalkers… isn’t that just a bit scary? That he will hunt high and low… it’s a nice video where he changes into animal form. It doesn’t change that he’s following her around! |

I understand the posted interpretations. However, coming from a similar climate to Norway, It can be very miserably cold and dispiriting. “Stillborn by choice, it has no need to hold” is an interesting line. Basically, the cold will lift, and so “ hold on my love” until we meet. I interpret this as a hope for the future. It will warm up and “we shall meet”.
“Where joy should rain, these skies restrain”; the skies are cloudy not joyful and sunny, so love/happiness is not immediately obvious. But he sings “we shall meet, I know”, so hold on my love and we will be together. The old man is alone, and cold, however is his love “shadows” or shields her capacity to love, they will be together. I guess I’m saying it’s a miserable, lonely, cold winter, but stay on this path and we will have love and happiness. And the cloudy skies just seem to make it worse. The song says it better, and I want it to be a message of hope and love ❤️! |

@[AstaTone:54327] I worry that we have become complacent with the treatment options, and today’s youth are not respectful nor fearful of the power of HIVand the variants. We had Such rapid advancements in treatment. It’s still a terrible and terrifying disease. We need to keep reminding the public. I still want to cry when remembering the awful deaths when we had NO treatment except for the secondary diseases… |

@[RUSH7874:54326] the song had nothing to do with AIDs; however the infection seems to have entered the US around 1976 through the 1776/1976 New York Celebrations. And to be starting around the world then. The virus slowly shows, and we realized it towards 1980. Yes, the virus was identified with difficulty around 1982. But the disease was already there. Freddie had a great time once he embraced his sexuality, unfortunately at the wrong time in the world.

@[idkdontask:54325] I really like this interpretation, as it is a just how I understood the song. It never seemed a mystery, just an interesting narrative. I truly enjoy the book comparison. Freddie was well educated and certainly could have known the book, story. How sad that he did die from AIDs; almost a mirror. I love that Queen’s songs are well written and interesting. Also, there are many songs/stiries about shooting someone and having to pay for it. Old cowboy songs, movies, and in gangster movies of the 70’s |

This is a a much catchier song than I recall. I think the interpretation of shallow versus deep applies to the depth of the relationship. In the deep end you have to know how to stay afloat or you drown. Additionally,as a swimmer, you must consider that you cannot dive in shallow waters without risking damage. To enjoy diving into water/relationship, you must have depth. And in the deep end, you have less interference as not everyone can navigate the waters (or the relationship).”they can’t hurt us, we’re far from the shallow now” . Safe to dive in and never crash to ground. IMO |

@[boscaresque:54305] I agree, except I think we were are war, if primarily cold per se. I went to college in Alaska, and during the early eighties the nearby bases went up and down on the threat level like a see-saw. I think the undercurrent seeped into our lives by movies, literature and songs. Like this one. The current generation does not have the same fear or respect. And now we are digging up sunken ships before 1945 because the nuclear fallout has contaminated our metals above the sea. So yes. Sad. But sometimes a sad song helps you know you are not alone. |

Being raised in the USA 60’s- 70’s with Nuclear medicine doctors for parents and a nuclear physicist as an Uncle, I knew the constant fear of a nuclear catastrophe. That influenced movies, literature, art and more. In 1976 the fallout shelters replaced the food and clothes; the set up was usually in hospitals and libraries with locations noted in phone books… it certainly defined our generation, the fear, I mean. You are so correct ✅ |

I live in climates similar to Norway, with the midnight sun, and early low rise of the morning sun. So it takes a different meaning for me. First, the sun will have been above horizon for a few hours by eight am. Second, I interpreted as a young man, like those who are ready to go at 8 am I’m a night person, so I felt guilty when he was “up” and I was not. Hence loaded gun as an analogy sexually. Say you know you will, has a different connotation. I looked at the video, and I don’t see threatening or finality at all. Too much smiling and hanging around together |

No one mentions St Louis. He says it got the better of him, and she’s gone. By herself, she’s up north where its10 below and nobody cares. It’s a love story, where they leave, escape but the dream fades. They fight in a coffee shop. She says hold on, but then St Louis distracts him and she leaves. Then they still love each other but are apart. They are both left devastated, they didn’t hold on in the end. |

I think late is actually left, as in left to ask. Being from Alaska, where I’ve lived with the midnight sun and long summer days, I would also add to the above comments that when winter hits, it’s not just the cold alone but also the darkness… and the sun never rises to the top of the sky. It’s more difficult in winter to be alone. Suddenly if you only have a few people around, it’s quite depressing. So please don’t go away, stay it’s harder to meet people when the cold traps you inside. Notice when Morten holds his hand up mid-day to block the sun it’s at most 23 degrees from the top of the sky. This is a song about Norway underneath. |

I love this song. It’s sad, but it has a different meaning for me. I don’t read murder in it, although if the writer a-ha’s Paul WS says so… I interpreted it as someone considering Suicide. Threatening his lover and begging for help. Threatening suicide is abusive to the other person, especially when you must talk them out of the gun. I live in the latitude of Norway, and we both have high suicide rates. Especially at the equinoxes. 7 days |
