I've played this song a lot. When I heard her son had died, I knew that she had lost one of her 8 good reasons. A haunting part of the song for me is the dream about the bullet and the right light. 25 years ago I dreamed about being at a red light with a gun in the car just out of reach. In the dream, I knew if I could reach I would use it on myself and there would be relief. As the song says, it would be quite nice. After that dream, I knew I must never own a gun or even hold one.
