Combined with the music video I think a clear picture emerges of specifically what the lyrics are about: Two lovers on Earth when some kind of cataclysm/apocalypse/mass life-ending event occurs. The singer concludes there is only one way for them to survive, they must transfer their minds into a computer/AI/cybernetic system. Do they die and an a replica of their minds lives on in a computer? Will they still be able to love eachother? Does consciousness transcend or bridge this event in some way? What will this experience feel like? These are the questions the song/video explores. |
