| Jethro Tull – Hymn 43 Lyrics | 2 years ago |
|
Definitely a song about hypocrisy. Phony Christians. Narcissists. They only call on Jesus when they’re in trouble or want something from Him. Even when they get what they want or need they are not grateful or satisfied. Instead they’re out committing the same sins. Murder, Greed and Hate. Taking from others like the Native Americans. Worshipping Hollywood and the fake people. Like they want more, but are never thankful for what they have. On their deathbeds they cry out for Jesus. In life they only used Him. He gave His life for them. He didn’t save Himself. The same way the Tull song My God talks about the same kind of people, and religions Ian Anderson feels are fake and controlling. At least some of the members of the religions. Ian is so talented. The way he plays the flute is awesome. I have loved Jethro Tull since I was a young girl that went to Catholic boarding school. I totally get it. Aqualung is a phenomenal album. Very thought out. |

| The Turtles – She's My Girl Lyrics | 2 years ago |
|
The song came out in 1967. It was about a guy and his girlfriend cruising around smoking weed and making out under the apple tree. Maybe climbing the apple tree too, since they went up in the sky getting so high. I really like the Turtles and this was a very cool song. Mornin morning glory. Morning glory referred to psychedelic drugs then. Another song at the same time on the charts was Some Velvet Morning-another stoner song. Also, Just dropped in.. I was 12 and loved the music then. Of course I can’t forget I am the Walrus. The Beatles were really buzzed on that one. |

| Blue Öyster Cult – Lips In The Hills Lyrics | 2 years ago |
|
Native Americans tell about skin walkers in the hills. They can shift shape and mimic people’s voices. They would hide and later devour people. They were actually demons. They could confuse and disorient people. Sounds like Eric Bloom heard the story too. Or yes it may have been about Roswell too. It is the most awesomest of rockers. Really cool guitar 🎸 riffs. |

| Spirit – Mechanical World Lyrics | 2 years ago |
|
I remember this from grade school. I thought it was about a really depressed young guy who did too many drugs and was dying from an overdose. Unintentionally. Was thinking back while fading out. About his Dad, Mom,and girlfriend. Song really blew me away. I was a young kid and this was definitely different than most top 40 stations would play. Spirit went on to become one of my favorite bands back then. Always called Mechanical World the doper song. Psychedelic awesome tune. |

| The Jaynetts – Sally, Go 'Round The Roses Lyrics | 2 years ago |
|
Sally go round the roses sounds like a girl dealing with secret addiction issues. Or maybe a young girl who was pregnant and then dumped. In the early 60s they had to cover over the meanings. Sounds like a normal break up song on the surface. What was really going on is up for interpretation. A lot of songs are left to the listener to decide. So Sally what are you into, man? Look out. |

@[oreokookie:46050] I was thinking the same thing about the blues legends and groups like the Stones and Zeppelin were doing old covers of blues legends. At the same time all of the 60s bands pushed the censor-ship boundaries. I think John Kay was doing the older jive. When he got to the chorus that’s when he sang suck me suck me soon. Really fast, but you can still hear it. Loved Steppenwolf!!!! |

A lot of the 60s bands were covering older black blues classics. They were awesome. Sounds like John Kay was talking about dancing to some blues rock. At the same time there was a lot of censorship back then. I had the album as a young kid. Loved it with Born to be wild as the main song. I think Mr Kay went from talkin blues into very fast lyrics. Definitely sounds like he’s sayin Suck it Suck it soon! |

| A song about the generation gap and the changing of each generation. Metaphorically interrupted. | |
| Love And Money – Halleluiah Man Lyrics | 2 years ago |
|
When dreams don’t become their people People become their dream When you’re in the middle you have to choose a side Make the right choice When you’ve got nothing to lose just do the right thing This was an awesome song in the 80s. I could really relate back then. |

First heard this song in college. In the 80s we all partied too much. Made me think of cruising the back roads out to the beach looking for a good party. We just started listening to the B52s and thought awesome stoner band. I had no idea at that time most of the band members were gay. So now I can clearly see it’s a sex song. It just reminds me of being young n reckless. The B’s were a great band. 80s New Wave was the best music. |
