So the protagonist is quite lonely and calls up the Devil because on some level he understands that he hit his rock bottom. With the Devil's help he wants to indulge in self-destructive behavior (thinking he's his pal) but the Devil's like, "nah, dude, I have nothing to do with it, you got yourself into this, if you want to you can drink and smoke, but don't make me part of it". But at the same time there's arrogance in the protagonist's behavior, on some level he thinks only the Devil will get him. So he goes on to V complain about his friendships but the Devil is having none of it. I'm the devil, you think l'm supposed to be evil and cruel but you yourself are great at this. You're in hell already and you keep making it worse for yourself. Stop complaining and blaming others. Even the Devil is tired of your shit. Accept that you're in a shitty situation, stop dwelling on your past trauma. Yeah, it happened, yeah it's shit but stop using it as an excuse to not get better, to explain your shitty behavior (hello, BoJack!). Stop using it as a crutch. Stop fetishising your pain thinking it somehow makes you special (hello, CXG's Sexy French Depression) You're in hell and you're stuck here. Stop looking for distractions: a chat with the devil, cigarettes, dominoes, rum, complaints. Let this pain in, live through it and then let it go. After I started therapy and got to a tiny bit more |
