Listening to music is the only thing I can easily bring myself to do. And I've listened to literally every Erasure song despite them having too many of them and I like that, haha. I'm spacefuneral on Spotify, BlueLight439 on deviantart..

| This is clearly about finding out about something you didn't know, in the hard way, when something bad happens to you. That "something" is probably supposed to be a common knowledge. The song is vague and can fit various contexts. One of them is definitely facing discrimination as a LGBT individual though. | |

They find it very hard to live without them. They're very hurt. This loss seems to have badly damaged their life and mental state. "No return, I keep reminding myself" it is what they want but they know things can't go back to the way they were. They still hold onto the hope that as time passes, things might get better and that they might move on. For a while, there are just instrumentals and no singing, then the "safety in numbers" part kicks in. This probably means time went on, things didn't get better, and they just decided to end it. "Then you'd wash all my troubles away" I think means having this person in their life used to help them with their troubles and made them feel better... "Spiralling" and "Always" are the Erasure songs I've listened to the most. One of the reasons I listened to this a lot is that it is painfully relatable. In some other versions of the song, the "safety in numbers" part is omitted (that part is missing even in this page...), I can see why but I still think it butchers the song and its story and meaning. It is okay to not feel okay. It is okay to love and value someone. |

This song seems to be about coming out of the closet and wanting to live a happy life with your specific loved one forever. This was the first Erasure song I heard. I was like "What is this song?? Sounds so awesome!" I will always remember that day and moment. |

This seems to be about someone who is very dissatisfied with their relationships. "Oh you really still expect me to believe every single letter I receive? Sorry you, what a shameful situation" understandably, they're being wary and not too trusting. And...like other people said, it kind of sounds like they're killing them. The eeriness in the music, "My sense of hesitation disappears", "Sending shivers up and down my spine", "So I return them to the sender", "I like to read murder mystery, I like to know the killer isn't me" make it sound like that. I'm glad this song was rejected and not used in Dick Tracy, or else it wouldn't be in the Chorus album and I wouldn't be able to listen to it on Spotify and would have to resort to YouTube everytime, just like I do with Looking Glass Sea. |

Oh no, this page has the lyrics of the wrong song. It has the lyrics of "Love to Hate You" instead of "I Love You" currently, but I submitted the correct lyrics. I'm gonna write my interpretation of "I Love You" anyway. "You made your bed, now lie in it, you masochist of mayhem." It means these are the consequences of your own actions. "A thousand personalities inside your head" kind of self-explanatory, your behaviour and thoughts change often. Like you can be nice one moment, a jerk the next moment, be sad and regretful the next. "A thousand possibilities to mend your heart" they have hope for you even if you have done bad things, they think you can do better than this. They've been trying to not let your actions get to them. They still understand you and love you despite everything you've done. You feel genuine remorse for your actions. "Take these tears away from me now" means they're hurt and sad too, but they believe you can stop making them like this. "Take these words, and tie them up, and give them back, for I..." they want to know you see, hear, feel and love them too. Sadly relatable from both perspectives. |
