Most people believe this song to be about a relationship between a man and woman, but there's nothing to definitely indicate that. I know OLJ was straight, but she was also extremely supportive of the gay community, bless her heart. I think she chose to perform this beautiful song(which she did not write) because of the ambiguity of the lyrics. |

@[meoozik:42077] I think meoozik nails it. I wonder, though, is this a personal experience of Bonnie Raitt? Maybe that of a troubled friend? Ms. Raitt is still with us, so if it was her own ordeal, she was able to make it through a very grim struggle. |
