Barry Manilow – I Write The Songs Lyrics 19 years ago
ALERT PLEASE READ
when i first listened to this song, it was beautiful. after all, i'm a fan of old music. so i took the effort to listen to the lyrics, and then i got a partial shock. something was not right about the soothing melody and lyrics. and that's why i decided to warn you who decide to come here to analyse lyrics of songs.
call me a fanatic or crazy oversensitive bored fella with mass paranoia...but listen. possibly, it's just a simple song about him writing songs. but my interpretation of this song, and true meanings of good songs always need some interpretation, is that this 'writer' of songs is the devil. rather, lucifer.

i have been alive forever...lucifer was a fallen angel. technically wasn't forever because God was first. but lucifer existed long enough, before the world started, and forever refers to an extremely long period of time.
i wrote the very first song...lucifer before fallen, was one of the 'greater' angels and he wrote the first song.
the next 2 lines are him declaring it further.
let me skip the chorus first.
my home lies deep within you...yes he is in your heart because we as men are naturally prone to evil and in giving in to sin we have allowed him to live within us.
I've got my own place in your soul...furthers that.
Now when i look out through your eyes i'm young again even though i'm very old...lucifer is very old but he's seducing us with the world or in the case his music and taking his place in us.
the music makes you dance, doesn't it? sometimes we don't even think...the rhythms and melodies just weave their way into us. gives you spirit to take a chance...to forget rationalism and makes us want to be fun. i wrote some rock and roll so you can move.
Music fills your heart...yes emotions taking over...wel that's a fine place to start...ahh can u now see what i'm talking about? Isn't it really a good place for the devil to attack us from, or thru?
It's from me, it's for you. His music, to fill you. to lie to you.
It's from me, it's for me. See, it's for himself actually...it's stealing you and controlling you..
it's a worldwide symphony. the world is engrossed in it and may not see it. even those who suspect are pushed by worldly pressure to see things the way the world sees it. the symphony is grand...if you've listened to symphonies not just on radios you know its effect.
i am music...lucifer created music, he is music in that sense....and he writes the songs...these songs...

the chorus is just furthering all these...

see it from my perspective for a while...i urge you to be careful.

make you fall asleep...just like lullabies? that's even more scary. disarming effects.

12 Stones – Soulfire Lyrics 21 years ago
what's with the 'you push me you pull me'? in terms of lyrics purely

apart from just lyrics, why the 'shouting' at that part and the thank you part
i don't think it would spoil the song without shouting but i'd certianly think it'd be better. Their style seems to constantly repeat itself and i read they are kinda like linkin park, and i agree. Linkin park also has repeating patters anyway. But i'd hope their singing fits it with what they are saying, like shouting only if the effect is needed to emphasise particular lyrics at a certain part.
If they are truly a Christian band (i'm not saying they are not, i'm just not sure), then i think lyrics should come first. it doesn't have to be that extreme though, with like no rock tunes. I just think the singing should fit a little bit more appropriate with the songs' meaning than currently.

Maybe i'm missing something. But if not, that's what i feel.

12 Stones – My Life Lyrics 21 years ago
i read from other posts in the other threads about this band being a Christian band and having songs related to that topic. I'm doubtful whether they are really Christian, but i think this song could be related to that topic too. The Love ( i dunno why it was written in caps in the lyrics ) probably refers to love from God. The speaking of mind and forcing of words could probably refer to the guilt he feels when he doesn't do what is considered right in Christianity. And Christianity has it's 'rules' if u wanna call it that, so that's what he means by 'u tell me how to live'. And he goes 'but it's my life' when he rejects all of that, maybe being unable to continue a Christian life.
Open arms is the open arms of God, always willing to accept you as long as u accept him. He's been there many times before and got lost in the sense that he tries to going back to Christianity and leading a right life but has failed many times, and once again he shows rejection to it all and wants to break from the grip. The chorus then shows his rejection and maybe resentment. The last part also.

DC Talk – Jesus Freak Lyrics 22 years ago
I know a lot of atheists who like to look down upon other religions and criticise it. Often, should the topic start, they will eventually try to push their atheists views on me and question my religion in an unpleasant tone. They get heated up quite easily and some of them will seem to get personal. I didn't say that all of them are like that, but there quite a number among those I know. Also, the target is always christianity, never any other religion. Then again, perhaps it's just that christianity does the most evangalising and somewhere along the line, someone took it personal.
However, for some reason, I do feel that many times, in their questioning, they are actually hoping to be proven wrong and want to know more about christianity.
