i think this about is about a drug user. Re first stanza: the posion (snorting cocaine) or the line (shooting up). the lines "who killled tangerine are rhetorical: who got her hooked\' who is her supplier \n. she uses to kill the pain of or a tramitic event. |

@[rhombus:40294] we have to consider that this song is about curt smith b/c of the reference to the 4 leaf clover is gone harks back to the head over hills video; just before he rises up to sing with his 3 bandmates, they are seen behind him by a shelf with an overlay of 4 leaf clovers. when curt leaves one of the clover leaf is gone, gone is rhe dream of musical greatness the two could achieve. also, in reference to getting a volunteer to read the person\'s mind may refer to curt because he once accused roland of mental abuse. this intepretation helps explain roland\'s line "no one else seems to mind that i am not that kind (nice) . this interpretaion is strengthened by looking at the backstory of "cold". Essentially he turned his back on a fan. she sent him a note wanting to understand how a person could write beautifil songs and be so could cold. he wrote the song "cold"about that situation Finally, he said in an interview that who see him on tv etc. think he\'s nice but they are wrong. he went onto say "I am the bastard. We should also consider the possibility that the song was about both curt and caroline which could explain the seemingly contradictory statements made. this song Is about curt and/or Caroline and the angst caused when curt left and/or later when he wanted to save his marriage. he said in an interview that he wasn\'t focusing on the problems of the world at the moment. instead he was focusing on saving his marriage. |

roland\'s affair. i am at a loss as to whether he cheated or whether the media portrayed a rumor as truth . (it is not the first celebrity charcters have been wrongfully attacked or band manager has lied to spike interest in the band\'.) i have scoured the internet for a couple of months (I am currently bed ridden) and have yet to find concrete evidence of an affair. all i can find is blog discussions or recent articles that offer conjecture not proof. however songs like I Choose You suggest he had to choose between his wife and his lover. inthe first stanza it say: Some things come out of nothing. what is nothing? it could mean that he has a plantonic relationship that peole have misconstrued to one night stand to a full blown affair. it later says he went down the kitchen to do his part and to figure out the workings of the heart. This could mean he has to figure who he loves more and who he wants to spend is life with or what is most important to him. Does he want aa divorce or to stay married for the sake of the kids.mDoes dhe want to stay because he realizes he loves Caroline the most? And then how do we interpret that phrase about someone taking his shoes (thunder). who told his wife? Does it mean he wanted to tell her first to ease the blow? to let her down easy but his lover grows impatient and blows the lid off so he is forced to make a choice between his wife and his lover. maybe he loves them both and doesn\'t want to choose. Maybe the reference about going down to the kitchen is figure out what he needs to do to repair damage, i could go on and on but until i find some credible evidence i am not going to decide what anwer is....suppose his wife was the cheater where does that take us??? |

don't drink the water is a metaphor "don't believe what you hear and see and then follow blinding. people in power say what they think you want to hear and seldom do anything you want them to do. so this song is a wakeup call foR People to think and act the way they see best. |

@[OldSkool:39437] this song is a political song that calls people to think for themselves and not drink (be fooled by, manipulated by etc,) lies of policticians and economiic leader. it also a call to resist what is going when the situation calls for it.
