Here I'd like to reiterate what I've said in my previous comments of the other lyrics from this album. You have to analyze the songs bearing in mind that this is a conceptual album, inspired by the prophecies from Nostradamus, which means that it has its roots in the occultism. "Some people die And even never realize Man's growing blind Is seeimg owly with the eyes We think we're strong Belive we never could be wrong But we are fools Because we're dying by the rules" I think it's clear to everyone. Most people live in an automatic mode, whithout even reflecting about the meaning of their lives. And he end's the verse with a reflection: why are there rules at all? "One more to count in Wake up the mountain All colour's slowly Turning to gray All world is darkling Wake up the mountain And we will find it once more again" It is not really clear to me, but IMO, he means by waking up the mountain the fact of reaching a state of absolute consciousness. One more to count in: one more person is reaching his plain counsciousness, while the rest of the world is turning to gray. "We made the rules and we can change them Break down the orders one by one We made the laws and we can break them Break down the mountain, stone by stone by stone" By breaking down the mountain, you will built a new one, without its old suffocating rules, that limits the abillity of the person of reaching its plain consciousness. That's what he means, IMO. |

Nice lyrics, great song. This song must be analyzed in the context of the album, which is inspired in the prophecies of Nostradamus. Bearing that in mind, you may notice that the lyrics have their roots in the occultism. It is hard to notice in this particular song, but it is more clear in the others. Here we face a subtle example: "We've got the power We are divine" The beliefs from the secret societies usually suggest that we are our own gods, and in other words, that we are divine and that, as we ate the forbidden fruit, we have deicided to be like God or to be our own gods. "Extracting tensions from sources unknown We are the ones to cover the throne" To cover the throne. What does it mean? It is a sentence we also may reflect about. What did the author really mean? @[Yohanbaroni:38981] I forgot to mention the main part of the chorus: "Kings will be kings Pawns will be pawns" It might be a reference to the belief that comes from some secret societies, that the illuminated people, that is to say, the rulling class, the elite, are the heirs of the gods, and in the opinion of some of them, they have the same blood of the gods, and it bestows them to rule the world as their own will and it makes them more apt to control the non-illuminated. They always will be rulers, while the rest of the mankind will be simply pawns. |

I've heard this album from the first time when I was about 13 years old, and now, more than 15 years have been gone and I finally have an idea of the meanings of the lyrics from this album, which is by the way, my favourite one from the band. The lyrics of this album are clearly inspired by the occultism. As the album is said to be inspired in the Nostradamus' prophecies, it clearly shows to the audience that it has an influence from the occultism. In many secret societies members believe that before the great flood, the world was ruled by fallen angels, or in other words, by ancient gods, whose tirany was stopped through the great flood. Most of the occultists believe that soon these gods are coming back to rule the world. "Close to eternity I spread my wings and fly Like from a distant age I rule and you obey" And the author plays with this thought also in this verse: "Blessed be the young Strong enough to bear What before long will come" Le'ts see another verse: "I know that pride's before the fall How can I fall if there's none left at all Tell me tell me How far can one fall from down below?" Here the author brings question about the eternal condemnation (fall). Is hell so bad as one might believe? Is the hole so deep and isn't it possible to climb it back after you fall? Is Jesus the only way to salvation? I know that this lyics allows many interpretations, but it might be analyzed in the context of the whole album, which is full of references to the occultism. |
