Hozier – No Plan Lyrics 2 years ago
@[pompandpomp:37699] Oh no, what have I written now? Is this going to stay on the internet forever?
It is a waste to say that the heart could feel apart or complete, because it is complete and never apart. The heart is where the spirit resides, it's the same spark that witnesses the nothingness from the beginning and in the end and hopefully during this worldly experience.

The spirit is the one that loves, the mundane mind is the one that is concerned with unfulfilled wishes and desires, with the tired old pains.

Imho, the blue bird's secret is that the world broke her, yet she never lost her faith. The world never broke him, so he can afford to play with nihilism whilst carrying on with the truth that her spirit burns with.I just wanted to say, it's a beautiful song and that all is forgiven.

Not sure if I've forgiven Hozier for this song yet. It speaks to my old hippy heart who knows all you can do is to go with the flow, so why are you worried because "there's no race to be run"? You're in the river of time, the sand is passing through the hourglass, just hold my hand and enjoy. If you try to force anything into existence, it never works, like when you're waiting for a phone call by the phone, it never rings, right? The moment you leave for the bathroom, there it is, it rings! Had you just enjoyed the process of it, yearning for something and not sure if you're going to get it, "the same tired old pain", you could have enjoyed it without fretting.

If you could just "sit here and let the sunlight fade", and accept that "the harder the rain, the sweeter the sun", and sing about "the screaming fuckery of the world", that would be great. Because we come from the darkness and to darkness will. This song gave me even courage to pass a cemetery, where I see those zombie looking old ghouls hovering above grave stones. No, I'm not scared of you anymore, it will all end in darkness for all of us, even for you you spooks. There's no plan, go with the flow, and that includes the dead. The heart is always complete, babe.

But then, I hear the words: "there's no kingdom to come", and I can't take it. No, no, no, why would the bird try and escape its cage if it wasn't flying towards a kingdom? Is this song about the real spirit, the true angelic essence who knows everything and over-the-top nihilism of demons? "I'll be your man, if you've got love to be done". Right, no love to give, love to be or love to make even, he's reduced love into "doing". Shaking my head and hanging it low.

Typical Hozier though, he sings about the heaviest tensions made up of contradictions in life. Heavenly choral lines mixed with the sexiest beats as he does in the Angel of Small Death, in which he's craving love from a lean-armed, dry-haired possible crack whore. Or who knows if Wasteland, baby is a love song or a break-up song? (Break-up, obviously).

And what secret does his "blue bird" honey have here? A big secret that he's taking to his grave? He'll be her man, because she's his only connection to believing there's some meaning in this nihilistic world? He wants to be buried with her faith?

Hozier – Foreigner's God Lyrics 2 years ago
His heart is heavy with "some other man's beliefs", with all the teachings by the "well dressed frauds" in Catholic priests' shiny outfits. His guilty conscience doesn't let him spare the rod for himself, so he makes "broken love to her" whilst it turns out "she feels no safety in his arms" either. Why is that? "She moved with shameless wonder" to begin with, was that when she was still innocent?

He's wondering whether the primitives "when the land was godless and free" were having sex casually, without guilt, without shame. Animals have heat and mating seasons, their yin and yang come together under the laws of nature, which are the laws of God, everything in nature happens under the Divine rhythm and in the pattern of God, that's why we see divinity in the natural world.

Wondering "who to copy" and admitting " no language left to say it" he's thinking if he screams 'Jesus Christ' it feels wrong, since the well dressed frauds tainted everything and his old religion feels foreign, but if he should try to scream in the name of some ancient Celtic Goddess' name, would that be more true? Who will answer his prayer?

Perhaps the girl's psyche is ruled by the ancient Mother Nature, who's whispering to her ear that sex is not the same for Eve as it is to Adam, because Eve is made in the shape of the earthly Goddess herself: yin and yang together will make her first create life in herself then create food for the new life, not so different from the ancient Goddess Mother Earth. "She feels no control over her body", because the man's love is happening to her. Sex is not a sin, but her body is made in the shape of the Goddess.
