| @[nishxnjh:40014] There was nothing "toxic" about my comparison. Stevie is a genius. When TS or AG write a song remotely close to anything she did they will get the same respect. Stop with the false narrative. You need to grow up and understand that "popular" doesn\'t equal "great". TS writes some catchy tunes. I especially like "Shake it off"! But the majority of her songs are hook inspired drivel. \r\n\r\nI have no animosity towards female musicians at all. I also think that Christine McVey is a fantastic artist as are so many others. My comment was more directed at what passes for "genius" in today\'s music. Kanye? Kendrick Lamar? Diddy? No one will remember these men for their musical contribution in 50 years but people will still be listening to Carol King, Aretha, Tina Turner etc. because they were brilliant. \r\n\r\n\r\n | |

I heard this song this morning for the first time in several years and was stuck by the depth and beauty of the lyrics and the powerful way Stevie sings it. It also made me realize how much I missed the shear mature talent of the singer songwriters of her generation. Talylor swift and Arianna couldn't write a song like this if their lives depended on it. |
